Low square wave distort it till it stops sounding like shit layer high passed so there is no sub phase problems over sine...

Might be some kind of filter / modulation...
DSK Harmonica through a multiband compressor with the midrange cranked does that PERFECTLY though once you tweak the envelopes
... just gotta play it in like c 1 octave.
