I prefer a better revenue split, getting paid monthly, and up-to the minute sales reporting during the sales period...
oh and how about those Q1 royalty reports that we havent seen yet?
I get a good split imo. Monthly I hear ya but all distros go on the quarter as far as I know. Up to minute sales reporting would be nice sure. What you are suggesting is bypassing the distro and doing it yourself. I don't have time for that.
Sorry for the hikack

OK man, you don't have to use the webspace or help I offered for free. If you think your idea is good, it'd be worth buying a domain for. It makes a big difference.
If you want to push unmastered mp3 .zips through a free zshare/mediafire account and a wordpress.com/dubstepforumdotcomfreenetlabel blog, go for it. I don't think that would do any proper talent any proper justice.
If you're going to do it, do it properly.
Listen dude if I was going to invest money in my concepts I would conduct them in a manner not assicated with DSF as a name.
And yes. I think it can doa great deal for the artists. I know who Mad EP was long before I joined this forum becuase he releases through free .rar pack netlabels on occasion. I download EVERY idmf-label collective. It can do good things.
Im not trying to 'do it' in the same definition I tihnk you want to 'do it'
And no, I DONT think my idea is worth paying for.
everyone quit expecting this to be something its not please. You people are killing the idea and you dont even see it.
@abZ :::
dont apologize man because like I said I am gonna start a real label one day (not related to this in any way) and that stuffs good to know...

Unless you put every idea to a poll, it'll never be community. Why not try that?
And with that, I'm out.

A poll for what? If I should have to make this way more serious then it is? Look dude I dont wanna start a real label. I wanted to make a simple forum activity. Not a vinyl distributing paid url owning powerhouse.
I cant take your ideas seriously. They cost money.

This is the problem right off the bat.. all you are saying is I want, I don't want, I want.... I thought this wasn't supposed to be about you, a label for the peeeepullls! I think you have to hear everyone out or just forget about it now and save yourself some time and aggravation.

The people want vinyl runs abZ. They want profits and vinyl and paid domains and ect. They want a real label... Cool... thats when they need to send YOU thier demo's. YOu runa label man, and you know that what they want will never happen that way, not in this context. The people want Dubway to remodel this forum to include a rating system for the embeds on soundclouds for god sake. People want alot of things.
I want to be sensible.

I can see Basic A's point though. It may be for the 'people' but at the same time, it was his idea, and it's being hijacked, he made clear he didn't want to start a proper label, just something small scale for the community and instantly everyone jumped on it out of their own self interest. It may be 'for the people' but I can see why he's getting pissed. He said right off the bat he didn't want a real label and people are suggesting a real label. If they want a real one then they should make it themselves, instead of trying to manipulate somebody else's good will into their own creation for their own benefit.
This idea from what I've read was never meant to be expanded into some massive project. So suggesting turning it into one isn't really fair on the guy who was just trying to do something nice for the forum.
That's the way I see it anyway. I'm sure people will disagree with me.

Selling tunes costs money. If someone payed for it. But that wont happen...
Im saying, google IDMF Label.
SImple free host with a catalogue of forum dubs...
the concept promotes itself.
Ill even set up the site just odnt wanna be final manager
Edit ::: If a group volunteers management help we could do it. Wordpress host, I can personally host the music just not the pages... easy... volunteers/sharma can we get an endorsement?
'm not an expert on how labels but will contribute by doing any writing that needs doing, if needed. I'm liking the concept, despite not knowing too much about it, see I didn't want to say something without knowing about it.

It's all very well saying you don't want to spend money on your idea (its not really your idea anyway, Pressing Issues did it before) but why say:

That asks if we should spend money noone has, on a name we dont own the rights to? No. This money issue is over. Note the revision in thread title.
Dubway will have no part of anything like this if it involves us paying for something, or us getting paid for something. Quit. Your the only one trying to sidetrack this now. Either participate in the idea or GTFO. You dont understand what money involves.
Im pming a bunch of you now to get your 2 cents, but the system I mentioned above is the only way this is going to be feasible. No money involved. STFU. You really are killing the project and you dont even know it.

Why does this have to be about money?
Why can't this venture be about the community and a bit of free publicity? You all give out free downloads on soundcloud so why is there such flagrant opposition to a community net label? It's free publicity guys. For those of you who are new to the scene this would be a fantastic opportunity to get your stuff out there.
If any of you keep track of your soundcloud downloads you'll know when a track gets downloaded once that's it in the system, it gets passed on to two more people then those two people pass it on to two more. Giving out freebies via the web is a great way to get your stuff out there and your name known.
As well as that it's a great way to get to know the other guys on here and make new contacts and find new opportunities for collabs and inspiration for tracks.
Wouldn't it be better to concentrate efforts into trying to help this project get off the ground?
Try and concentrate on the real issues behind this project guys. Keep it relevant yea?
This is a great opportunity. Let's not ruin it by pushing for more and biting the hand that feeds.

Great idea, to many people want to have it their way, and there already is a thriving netlabel scene, It just seems DSF members are not hip to the whole scene.
Basic A, if i were you, i would just start my own netlabel and recruit here if thats the noise you want.
