Problem with "going legit"

Slightly embarrassing problem but I'll ask away anyway. Back in the murky depths of time I had some pirated VSTs which I've since removed as I wasn't using them or bought properly as I was. Learning the native synths in Logic has helped no end as well, you really don't need much else.

Anyway, whenever Logic starts it scans for VSTs including the NI Akoustic Piano VST, which I've removed all remnants of from my hard drive, yet Logic still stalls during start up as it trys to find it. I can't figure out how to convince Logic it no longer exists and as such have to manually abort VST scan every time I start up Logic. Not a big deal but still a ****** hassle when I want to get going with a song.

Any ideas humbly received my production friends.

Urm, so you got rid of the .au or the .vst??? cause getting rid of the vst version aight going to get rid of the .au

also check the same folder under your user folder

delete the plug ins you want to delete in the NI folder

I have the same problem with some corrupted freeware that I have removed. Logic still thinks that they exist and the whole audio unit scan stops soon after I've started. I have deleted all files from the component and vst folders and I've also unchecked these AU's in Logic's audio unit manager. Any suggestions?

Sorry I meant That they're AUs but I was referring to them as VSTs.


Think its work actually, thanks for the advice. I had been looking in the plugins file under user rather than on the main hard drive.

The standalone versions are in the app's folder, but their plugins for your DAW are 100% in the locations above

the rest of the folders are under username mwp and then Library
application support folder- clearly has databases, presets etc
audio components-nothing NI here.... presets folder though... thats what you said was in application support...
Preferences folder- plenty of plist registration files....

now unless this is a bug... I dont see how it could be since I reinstalled many times

again your being mistaken. the plugins that logic use are NOT put in your user library, but the main HD one... the one you didn't list ... heres my screen
yes the supporting files and databases are there, but NOT the plugins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very simple question, how do you stop it from automatically opening your last project when you start Logic? It's a bitch when you're desperate to throw something down, i'd prefer it to open up the box that comes up when you create a new project.

Not sure if i have seen an EQ or filter with sidechain input (i think ableton has one).
What i would do is split the frequency via either a linear phase EQ or i prefer to use logics multi band compressor, with no compression but soloing just 2 bands. very handy tool!. So on the sub split, you have band one solo'd, and for the mids/highs solo the other band solo'd

Then just use regular sidechain compression on just the sub band. make sense?
Scrap that im gonna make a template and show ya
