self built pc purely for production and keep it off the internet
it's easy to setup a pc to be just as stable as a mac as long as you're not using cracked software and betas

I use PC mainly because I am skint as fuck, I need bang for buck. Mac is not so good with that.

Dont you dare recommend windows to someone who codes, that is linux realm, and mac is still perfectly suited to work in all languages with the exception of VisualBASIC... However, I still say the nature of nix makes compiling script on the fly, and bug checking server end applications extremely simple if your a coder.

Agree windows is a must for gamers, but, really, what are we 11? who buy pc's to GAME?

This is an incredibly vague statement and not true either. Any MACHINE will break down over time, its happens, thus is physics if not human error, but to say something is impossible to fix is simoply irrational. If a piece of hardware goes limp, it doesnt mean that EVERY OTHER piece does. that crazy speak. Like any other computer, macs have simple slot based internal components that any monkey can replace when they die out.

Software wise, same applies. Just because one thing breaks, doesnt mena it all is. And if you can ACTUALLY crash a Mac running priority software like they do... pebkac situation.

Why would you even recommend that to a novice? Have you ever set up a hackintosh before?

Anyway, you can't go wrong with either...but unless you NEED a Mac due to exclusive software, you're generally paying way too much compared to a PC. I also think Macs probably have a higher standard regarding hardware quality compared to a lot of PC companies (due to there only being company to purchase Macs through), but if you just research PC companies / models, you'll find ones that match that quality.

it really comes down to 2 things:

do you want to use logic?
do you have lots of money spare?

if the answer to either the first or both of those is yes then mac
if the answer to the second one is yes then probably mac but you can build some ridiculously powerful pcs for loads of money so its not quite cut and dry
if the answer is no to both then pc
