Frenchstep

Post by Kaneda » Tue May 11, 2010 12:59 am

Ok, here it goes:
Are there any french dubstep producers I should be aware of?
Every other country in the world seems to be jumping on this new-fangled music trendy-thingymajoodler, so I assume that even the French don't want to be left behind...

Mayd Hubb

Maybe more "Future Dub" than Dubstep proper but I saw him rock it with RSD last month in Montreal and he killed it with a really dope live performance of his own tunes that had a crowd that probably had never heard of him before vibin' like crazy. Definitely impressed me.

Fun fact: despite never coming close to releasing a good rock record and staying hopelessly stuck in electro as far as edm goes, France probably had the world's second best pure Hip-Hop scene back in the 90's.

Well, I kinda like phoenix, and the fact that France is stuck in Electro, well I really dont mind that at all. With producers like kavinsky and pretty much everyone on Ed Banger, the French have no reason to move away from Electro.

Have you heard NIghtcall? Pure French sexiness.

On a (somewhat) thread derailing note,

Does anyone else think production styles of french touch house would be an interesting blend with dubstep? Anyone know of anyone who's experimented with disco records + filters + dubstep?

I was actually just thinking that...
I think it could work. More of a liquid dubstep sound I imagine.

Thread topic changed:
Are there any FRENCH dubstep producers who have experimented with filter house/ electro sounds?

Cash bounties will be awarded to such examples.

French people have been there for long time. Not a producer, but got to give props to Hugues who's been dj'ing dubstep since 2006/2007 http://www.myspace.com/dj.hughes

Producers: Von D, from the 7even records camp: F (amazing), Likhan' (pretty amazing too if you ask me), Helixir. Mac Koall, Caterva (dunno if he's still producing), DJ Absurd (i don't really like his tunes, but perhaps you will). Can't name more, but i guess there are others
