can we get a sub-forum for those of us who can't get past the stylee of 2000-era horsepower, gurley, el-b, etc.?

it's damn impossible to find a forum or mix-sharing site that caters to us. unless someone can enlighten me, and point me in the right direction...

now don't get me wrong. i'm not out to disparage current dubstep or bother about genre labels, but I'm dying to listen to/discuss this music.

futuregarage is good, creative, high quality music. i like alot of it.

but these are 2 different 'tings, futuregarage and dark el-b 2step imo.

there are many listeners (such as myself) who got into the game with jungle (changed my life) but never was intersted at all in 4x4 garage.

i got into 'pure' 2step, which i was massively feeling and considered a completely seperate genre. as i live in canada, i managed to not be exposed to garage or anything else i wasn't feeling and only listened to mixes of 2step i liked.

thus, i have no real connection to garage, but consider myself very involved with 2step.

future garage mixes tend to cover the spectrum between syncopated beats and garage beats, with lots of cheery chopped todd edwards style vocals.

i only like the syncopated, tight, beat science with rollin' rythms, deep subs and whatever else the artist wants to add on top according to his fashion.

in other words, the ghost camp is like a genre unto themselves imo (but obviously not exclusively them).

i want paradox and burial to do a collab.

I'm not trying to get into any genre-defining silliness here, so let's not get off track, I was simply thinking about collecting like-minds in a SUBFORUM on dubstep.com for the "proto-dubstep" 2000 era dark 2step business. It's the foundation of the evolution of dubstep as we all know, and there must be others who focus primarily on that style, so I thought it was a no-brainer. It would be like having a jungle subforum on drumandbass.com or something...oh, wait.

Futuregarage.com is great, I've been a member and found some good tunes and mixes on there, but it wasn't even up by the time of my original post, was it? I don't remember, really.


Here are 2 examples of tunes. I post them to contrast the difference between the 'future garage' vibes and the vibes I was referring to in my original post.

Maximum respect to whistla, I started checking his show back with the "militant smokers special" but he is into a great many styles that I am not, ie. he has much more of a garage background (again, we're talking subjective taste, I'm not denigrating 4x4 at all here).

This tune represents a 'future garage' feel though. not the style I'm checking for at the mo.

First one I found on the tube, in fact I prefer less vocals. Anyhow, that's to taste and it's still a massive tune as standard.

no, the difference is easy to spot, it's just when you asked the question "where are the people who love this stuff" my response was "Here" in the fgf, not because i think that the stuff you're talking about is future garage, but because you'll find a larger collection of people who enjoy that sound on that forum than on this one... get me? i for one, love old school or "proto" dubstep or whatever you want to call it
