Visiting London Looking for Help

Post by dj3dchicago » Sat May 15, 2010 7:52 pm

Hello I'm a retired drum & bass dj/producer from Chicago and I am vacationing in England and Scotland from June 2nd-6th. I am trying to find any raves where I can bring my kids who are now 17 and 19 yrs old. I want them to be able to experience the magic of these events. Any club nights, bar nights, large, or small raves we can attend while we are here. We are specifically looking to hear Dubstep and Drum & Bass. Looking for the dark grimey sounding DJ's. I am having issues finding the age entry requirements on some of the events we have found so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's nearly always going to be 18+. Depending on how old the 17 year old looks you might be able to get in but some places are more stringent about checking ID than others.

hit up the west indian centre in Leeds, unlikely to be a problem for the 17 year old and; more importantly one of the best nights to experience (ie- Subdub)...

when u visiting? EDIT - ok, july, argh your coming bang inbetween 2 subdub's...

duno bout London but most places ive been out aren't particularly strict with the ID, specially with girls, its a lot more laid back than America i reckon, if you're just going to london then go FWD or sumat i reckon, otherwise yeh, Subdub will be special, dont be put off its only a 2hr train journey, which if you buy it on the day could cost you DOUGH though, and then obviously a ticket on the day will be like £13 or sumat, taxi's about and a place to kip could be about £50, but yeh, its worth i reckon, if you're willing to put in a bit of effort to make it

Yeah that's me...3d and Snuggles but I did ton of mix tapes with a bunch of DJ's so you might have had 3D and any number of them. Chicago Darksteppers was our biggest one.

Thanks for all your help so far, we are willing to travel anywhere in UK to find some good nights out so please keep the ideas coming. Will have rental car.

If you're in Scotland then the viewpoint sessions is on the weekend of the 5th, have a look at http://www.theviewpointsessions.co.uk/i ... &Itemid=77 The last one was amazing, only an hour's train journey from Glasgow, amazing surroundings and heavy tunes. Plus it's got that proper old-school rave vibe as it's in the middle of a forest.

FWD have been getting a bit more tight on IDing and stuff since the whole licensing debacle.
