Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Boys, the "new topic" button exists to create new topics, in which you don't hijack threads. especially ones like this one that actually matter to the forum.
last warning or else I start deleting the non-relevant posts from this topic. I'm fighting a losing war against logic on my other computer and am not in the mood to police the important bits of this thread.

I dont like that way.. Theres people here who dont spend all day on the forum, who has some really relevant knowledge.Basic A wrote:Mods turns it into an old school 1337 club...
rep, simplest plugin versiont here is, then a sticky thread or a subforum (thats never gonna happen why I say sticky thread, well nevr get plugin so this is all pipe dream) and then just set a good high value of thumbs ups needed to get in...
Its a simple as fuck mod too...

you up a few php files, copy n paste some code , its all a step by step, god love that anyone can be a sysadmin these days...
i also think it would result in so many shit posts in hope for a thumps up now and then.
Plus people will mistake the system for the youtube system, and give thumps up for "funny" comments and whatnot.
So if you dont have a clue what people are talking about in a thread, you cant contribute, evil circle kinda thing that keeps the noobs at
the bottom at all times. I can see it COULD motivate some people to go search information for them selves. Whatever benefits
there is to this, it would mean they would have to post to even get thumps up's = shit load of crappy wiseguy posts.

You need to accept that digital distribution is still an investment into a business. OK, making money from music = post making music.stappard wrote:wirez wrote:I don't really feel I need to explain myself or my music but I have anyway.
When you say stuff like
wirez wrote:To be fair it shows a higher level of dedication if anything, at least it shows that these producers see their music as a business and are willing to invest into themselves as a product.
I feel thats the sort of statement that requires an explanation. So totally at odds with what I thought the vibe of this forum was about.
Artists who are making music and are still amateur will not be investing into themselves as a business, certainly not after seeing their sales flop and no profit coming back afterwards. Amateur labels are releasing amateur artists and paying to do so, again when they see a lack of profit this should slow down.
In all honesty, if it's the case that digital distribution is bad because 'anybody can do it' even though the people releasing the music need to pay to do so, blame the people buying the crap music and giving them their money back.

Just so you know I wasn't ignoring your warning, I had already typed and was too raged to read past threads. I'll stop off topic posting now.

Re: DSF-ADVANCED ?
I'm TOTALLY against a divide between "people wot've released summat" and "people wot haven't released nuffink". Come on, really? There's SO much shit being released now -- and I'm not even talking about not-very-good-music, I'm talking about piss-poor productions coming out on bedroom netlabels -- that I can't believe anyone could really think it'd be a reliable arbiter of who may or may not be a valuable contributor.
I'm absolutely for the idea of an advanced section/thread/forum/whatever. But any "exclusive" community, whether exclusive in access or simply one with restrictions on who can and can't post, is bound to be divisive and ultimately counterproductive. Don't get me wrong, I'm more of a snobby elitist tnuc than anyone, but taking a step back to think about it.... no, it just doesn't work. There's no fair way of deciding who's good/experienced/smart/chummy enough to post in this "advanced" section without a) alienating certain people and b) getting it wrong some of the time.
IMHO, the best and only way that this could be made to work in such a way that nobody gets too offended, would be to create an "advanced" subforum that's free to post in but with clear guidelines, and at the same time, take on a few extra mods so that any bullshit posted in said "advanced" forum could be quickly and easily moved to the beginners' forum. Would it be that much of an effort, spread out between 3 or 4 heads who clearly spend all their time on DSF anyway? (....guilty as charged, obviously....)
Meanwhile, I can't speak for anyone else but I'd be more than happy to continue posting answers to beginners' questions, provided they're reasonably intelligent questions that haven't been asked a million times before.

Re: DSF-ADVANCED ?
as a noob i would feel quite unfair to create an advanced production with restricted access to only a club of "advanced" producers... granted i suppose i won't have anything insightful to post in it but still i wouldnt mind if i had at least a "read only" access
i think u guys are making an amalgam between the one stop noob who just comes in and post once or twice to ask how to make a wobble and then to post a link to his oh so awesome brostep tune on youtube and noobs that genuinely want to learn and lurk the forum looking for the gem threads where actual knowledge can be found
if you guys create an advanced production subforum, you might as well rename the old production subforum "how does i meak teh wobbles subforum" since all the interesting input would be in the new advanced leet forum and only the stupid questions asked and answered a million times would be left
considering the amount of extra modding creating a new subforum will probably need, wouldnt it be more productive to get one or two more mods in here and delete the shit threads faster so they're not cluttering the forum ? (not saying sharmaji isnt doing is job properly, dont get me wrong)
oh and everybody who's serious about this forum, just pledge not to post alpacas in said threads
anyway, just a noob's opinion...

i agree, if 10 "how to make this wobble thing" threads arise in few days, just delete 9 of them, and lock the last one, leaving info link to the stickys...Sharmaji wrote:or, new gameplan:

The production part of Lifted forums is not elitist at all. I was granted there some time ago by sending them one tune I now consider not good at all...FSTZ wrote:who cares if it's going to be called "elitest"

This was the same agreement from another epic long thread, everyone said yeah yeah, no more 230, no more IN etc etc but i still seen some of that stuff today i think it was.
I been seeing some of the regulatory poster not post as much as they use too, which is not good, so we need to do something about it! DSF conference!
I shall give my follow view when i read all of the pages (long but... has to be done i guess)
Re: DSF-ADVANCED ?
There is places if you wanna speak about more advanced production, cause lets be honest, how many dubstep related questions do us people who have been writing it for a couple of years actually have?
Bad idea..

Re: DSF-ADVANCED ?
Every forum has the influx of noobs problem,
belive me when I say this but its really not all that bad - theres nothing like a stale forum with no new faces, it essentially turns into a delayed chatroom full of inside-jokes and obscure memes that are repeted beyond joke.
Every forum i've visted is the same, we're not special here by having so many noob posts.
I really thinking any segregating at all is a bad idea - just post away. If you've allready got your "PHd" you'll be able to spot what threads are waste and what threads are worth reading anyway.
it's either that or we change the forum to a name that isn't so blatant as "dubstepforum"

the more i think about it this seems to be true... i also think instead of doing the alpaca flaming dont reply AT ALL and report the post... that way it drops of the page much faster and mods can take care of it (that is why they're mods isn't it) this by default means the good threads will stay more towards the top and will help generally improve the conversationProject_B wrote:Every forum has the influx of noobs problem,
