The most underrated MC ever.
Kool Keith.
Such a big discography and all of it is really, really good.
Ultra Magnetic MC's were way ahead of their time. Critical Beatdown was released in 1988 for god sake.
Dr. Octagon is a fucking classic album of course and Sex Style, Cenobites, First Come First Served, Black Elvis and Return of Dr Octagon are all amazing
He has developed his own style and his flow is unique.
Why does he not have the respect that he deserves?

i reckon kool keith does get props, enough that everyone keeps on letting him do his thing even though he's been recycling material for a fair few years

Sensational
Smoothe da Hustler
Smoothe da Hustler
It was entirely instrumental at this time, like jazz gone wild...a very tribal sound: very electronic. We would play like that for about 10 minutes. Then everybody would have to get really stoned again…But what we had put into 10 minutes was so total and so very savage – the earth shook, then cracked, and SWALLOWED ALL MISERY WHOLE.

Re: The most underrated MC ever.
talent and success are rare partners.
talent he's got buckets of. and the hype part came earlier with ultramagnetic mc's. i think after that he said fuck it and did whatever he wanted!
this is the fucking jam though..

He seems to be doing pretty well for himself as Tracy Jordan on 30 Rock.

Seriously though. Critical Beatdown and It Takes a Nation of Millions... are the only two hip-hop albums pre 1989 I can really be bothered to listen to.

Re: The most underrated MC ever.
i agree with what dude is saying. loads of people give props to critical beatdown but where is the love for black elvis, first come first served or sex style in the generally acknowledged hip hop canon.
they were cult albums but still not fully appreciated by many. i'm only coming to terms with how good they are myself.

i'm pretty sure his mental state (well acknowledged that he has been in a psychiatric ward many times over the years) might have had something to do with it - not that many interviews or mainstream promo out there either.
