I was playing one of my tunes at my mates house the other night and his system just didn't register my bass, but I produce on shitty little computer speakers, even so the bass is still audible at home, I don't get it!

In terms of producing I think its all about range, bass isn't just about any one frequency its about a range, sometimes through seperate sounds, sometimes through harmonies.

I rinse squarebass with the filter turned down on nearly every tune though! Should find other ways but I think it is quite diverse with filters, lfo's etc, I would love to hear what my tunes sound like on a valve or something though. Anyone got any tips for other methods of generating bass?

A good pair of speaker and your ears,I do not recomend using a spectrum analyser because it will make you lazy.

about 40-50hz is a good place to have it, i think less than that and a lot of speakers can't handle it and so you won't hear/feel it. i've been told that club speakers don't go down that far either but maybe that's wrong.
