how do YOU find sick tunes

Post by Frodo Bassbins » Tue May 25, 2010 2:54 am

how do you personally go about finding amazing tunes. personally i do the following: listen to dubstep.fm talk in the chat on live shows and ask for song id's. download mix's off this forum with tracklists and take down the names of the good tunes. i browse sites like juno, beatport, chemical records, and dubstep-tunes.net for tunes. browse the dub section of this forum. that said, i still find that im not broadening my horizons enough, as I still always hear killer tunes on radio shows and live shows that ive never heard before.

so, how do you increase your dubstep library?

Download the the N-Type, Skream & Benga, Youngsta, Hatcha, Antisocial, Autonomic and Distance radio shows when I can. And also any show with a guest Loefah mix. Then I make an MP3 CD of that weeks mixes and listen to them to and from work. Listening to that many mixes, certain tunes will stand out, and hopefully the DJs will mention the name, or alternatively fiends from DSF will provide a track list.

I employ a team of psychics to inform me of sick dubs before they are produced, and follow up accordingly.

a large golden eagle swoops through my window with a note attached to its leg any time a sick tune gets released, i've also got a team of shady men employed to lurk outside most of the biggest producers houses gathering data on tunes they may or may not be making.

i use a team of 30 bonobo chimps. they are genetically modified to channel their sexual energy into working on vast algorithms. they calculate precisely when a 'sick' tune will be released.

they use typewriters, wear sun visors and smoke cigars.

Do you give them breaks to fling feces and cause general monkey-business?

If not, i'm calling the PPA(primate protection agency)

my chimps found in their first calculations that this isnt a good way to find music at all.

and they have their own union. they get what they need. if they strike, god help them! no bananas for anyone. you'd think two smoke breaks and a lunch a day was enough...

sounds like you pretty much got it covered, dude. digital crate digging, searching the forum, and listening to mixes of the artists you like. if it's stuff on radio shows and live shows that you're missing out, maybe it's just a bunch of unreleased dubs and shit like that?
