I agree that it is cool and that it improves the speed with which we can explore possibilities. But it isn't a feature people have been crying out for if you read the propheads forums.
cloak and dagger wrote:Besides, some of the requested features are pretty lame (a new layout for Thor? Really?)
Thors interface is cringeworthy, especially when compared to real hardcore synths like Alchemy, Surge or Circle. The request is minor, but much needed none the less.
cloak and dagger wrote:I don't give a fuck about Reaper though, not gonna get into an argument about what computer program is better.
Fair enough, horses for courses :)
cloak and dagger wrote:edit: I would LOVE Reason as a VST though, since the only thing I really really miss from it are the advanced reverb and distortion units...still haven't found a VST, pay or otherwise, that can hold a candle to them.
For rizzle! I agree completely. :)

I never really thought there was anything wrong with Thor's interface. I don't think you're going to find one that compares to something like Circle, but Thor always seemed really straightforward and simple to me. I guess in the end, it has more to do with the user than the designer (I still hate you so much, Twin2).

I wish to work in design for a living. I spend far to long analysing usability, not just in software, but for all products.

Thor is poorly laid out, that's all. It is the best synth in Reason with out a doubt, although less revolutionary than Malstrom.

it doesn't look like the greatest update in the world and doesn't have the immediate wow factor that a new device would have. but workflow improvements are always a good thing. but let's hope the features revealed over the next few days are more exciting.

Yea man :)

Workflow improvements should be free imo, new devices/features should be paid for.

totally agree. as reason/record is a closed system i think the 5 big updates should be new devices. and stuff like blocks and other workflow improvements should just be additional add-ons.

The two presented features so far don't justify the "5" in my opinion.

But I'm not a Reason user.

I do agree with you about them adding new devices as a much more sound approach but you have to realize the whole update is free anyway so you can't really complain

Kind of a silly thing to say, no? I mean, you don't comment halfway through a movie, "Man, this is a short movie!" :D

But you can stand up and say this is a long movie.

Think about it. -q-

No, but you can say "so far this movie sucks". You can also say "I hope something interesting happens next". This is why I said so far. ;)
