Massive is so sick for basses and some leads cos u can make so many different sounds out of it. FM8 is defo gd for background stuff, with some really nice pads/percussive pads and its also got a few gd leads. Albino is gd aswell, quite different to Massive but you can do a few things easier than Massive, really gd for sub bass. I really want Predator, looks like a nice overall synth, used the demo not long ago. If ur lookin for some really weird/dance/trance type sounds, sylenth is defo suited, got all the Deadmau5, Tiesto etc etc sounds

anyways, hope that helps

Noone like helix then? I think it's a great synth!

Other than that I go for massive, 3xosc for sweeps/whooshes n to add noise to snares, use a free TAL every now n then used to use z3ta a lot a while back too.

Albino3, 3xOsc, Synth1.

Absynth is an insanely powerful synth, it's probably even the most powerful of the NI synths (with the exception of reaktor) although each own has it's own specialty. Absynth isn't really the synth for making harsh basses and tearing leads (although it is capable) but for certain aspects of sound design it simply cannot be beaten.

I'm pretty much all about Ableton Operator these days. It's a fuckin BEAST.

Alchemy all the way. It's got the best damn filters ever, and with the additive editor, sampling, granular... Jeez, I could go on and on, but It's just simply the shit.

Massive used to be my go-to for pretty much everything, but I don't use it that often now unless I want the feedback routing or really crazy enveloping. Most of my stuff now is on Operator or Analog. Hated Analog at first but it's really grown on me..... actually does a pretty good job at analogue grunge if you dial it in right. The filters are mental at high resonance.

Ultimately what sold me most was the layout -- when all of the bundled Live instruments fit in the bottom panel without a popup window, using 3rd party VSTs just feels like a pain in the arse. I can get around the Live Suite instruments twice as fast as I can on any of the Komplete VSTs.

I think that has more to do with how live handles 3rd party vsts! Was annoying for me to.
