Re: Lost final episode
I thought it was nice episode to watch, but in terms of actually explaining anything, it becomes clear the writers gave up on that a long time ago. All it did was give a bit of an uninteresting explanation to the alternative time line while not explaining any of the more fundamental questions to do with the real island time line.

Re: Lost final episode
Wasn't that because she was captured by the others and given Juliet's cure to this problem... (same with Sun)hackman wrote:claire gave birth though and baby was fine!

in that case i guess no-one could give birth cos of something to do with the electro magnetic nature of the island
which is probably the answer to most of your questions sonar

Re: Lost final episode
In the first series they made the smoke monster more technological. It whirred like servos..
Amongst the fake websites that appeared during the first series was http://www.smartdust.com which linked to a blank page with the Dharma Initiative logo on it.
Smart Dust is a term for clusters of nano machine networks that communicate and operate together. It has been considered as a possible weapon/reconnaissance tool made up of many many nano machines that move in unison as if they were suspended in a fluid.
THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN FUCKING COOL.
Instead they parred it into the villain from Fern Gully.
It seems as though the Lost writers had loads of cool ideas like this and the Dharma initiative and the whole island had so much more potential. The clumsy religious resolve is such a cop out (Battlestar Galactica...)
no offence to the batty fanbois

Unanswered:
-why did man in black get turned into the smoke monster who can inhabit dead people, but when desmond went down there we see he would have just landed at the bottom of a waterfall? was there some evil waiting in the light for 1 unlucky person to fall down?
because Desmond had that electromagnetic shizzle...he was resistant to that light
-why does jacob have special powers?
because he doe's his "mother" gave it to him,to protect the light
-why can hurley talk to dead people?
because he can,i kinda believe in that stuff
-what was the real significance of the numbers?
i don't know the answer to that one but i guess that's not that important, just a combination of numbers that can prevent electromagnetic bomb and stuff
-why can the island jump through time periods at the turn of a wooden wheel?
because it can, flocke dude made it so
-why do you appear in Tunisia when you turn said wheel?
it's because you don't appear in France (location is irrelevant)
-why can they suddenly just fly the plane off the island, what happened to all the special coordinates and stuff?
there are no special coordinates if you are leaving the island, only when you are searching for it,because it moves and blah blah
-what is the significance of the people in the room at the end? what about hurleys dad, desmonds son? walt, etc.
sorry i lost you...what do you mean by that?
-why did they show the island underwater in the purgatory reality?
because it is now on the bottom of the ocean...
-how/why did ben have such good outside connections/money/passports etc?
because they had that submarine and they communicated with the people living outside the island
-why could no one give birth on the island?
hmm 2 theories : the statue that jackob lived in was an old Egyptian godess of fertility and that black rock ship brocke it ....second one, darhma inniciative fucked up everything with that electromagnetic ism kaa boooom
so there was that machine and the numbers...
btw the said only people who get pregnant on the island can't carry on their pregnancies, the other way around is impossible

yeah you probably could use it in one way or another to answer a lot of stuff, but that just seems a bit like another cop out?hackman wrote:in that case i guess no-one could give birth cos of something to do with the electro magnetic nature of the island

it was nice that they all died together
but since "heaven" is eternal and time is meaningless, they can all be there at the same time(?)

that sounds like dying together to me

Re: Lost final episode
what i dont get...
right at the end, theyre in the church and it goes white, they all 'move on' from purgatory etc...
but, when its abck on the isalnd, hurleys taken over protecting the island with ben and jacks lying down dying, and the plane flies overhead with kate/sawyer/lapeados/miles/clare on... are the mans on the plane dead? or do they escape the island and fly back home and live? or do they arrive in purgatory and have to find the chruch all over again? are hurley and ben the only ones who live? then why was hurley in the church?

I dont think they all moved on at the same time, they all came along at different times, a few of them were probably sat in that Church for a good few years, maybe entertained by a wedding or too, maybe even a christening

Re: Lost final episode
I hated how they made the finale corny as fuck, I was expecting huge shit to kick off - massive set pieces, like the far superior season 5 finale. But no, they writers seemed to think we actually cared about the relationships and people. I WANTED TO SEE MAD SHIT!
To me Lost went on two series too long - the only good episode this season was the Jacob/Smokie one a few eps back. There was nothing in this series they couldn't have squeezed into season 5 (imo the best season) and they could have dropped the awful season 3 all together.
What pisses me off the most though is that at the end of series 1 everyone was like 'oh they are all dead and in purgatory' and the writers said 'no, definitely not', only to pull out 'oh they are all dead' at the end. BULLSHIT.
