Proper 80s top trumps, played that game every single break time for years at first school. Had hundreds of cards, battle ships, fighter jets, cars, heavy industrial equipment, that kind of thing.

This started off a 6 year obsession for me:

My dad's a carpet fitter, was working with him a little while back and had a job with some special order carpet...turns out you can get road map rugs in normal carpet form (4m width, whatever length), kid went nuts when he saw his room when we were done. I was slightly pissed I couldn't have it 20 years ago though.

If anyone needs an excuse to get new carpet, a whole road map floor is IT.

I have bare floorboards upstairs that make good creepy noises in the night and oak laminate flooring downstairs that are perfect for watching animals slide about on for the lol.

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.

Walkie fucking Talkies.

My parents once bought a really cheap set for me and my brother for Christmas... we were up at 3 in the morning playing with them before everyone was up, when suddenly our Grandma runs in looking pretty weirded out to say the least... apparently they were tuned to whatever frequency she'd been listening to and her talk radio had been replaced by her grandsons plotting an armed raid on the shed.
