Contact Juggling

Post by BLAHBLAHJAH » Thu Jun 03, 2010 5:15 pm

Anyone into this at all? My brother got back from China after watching some buskers with them he bought one, just got one myself. Is proper next level meditation stuff though!

Here's a cool video showing a bit... Maybe skip to the 3 minute mark where some silver creepies crop up along with some dubsteppy vibes. Second big track hits in around 6 mins 30
(hah distracted by the tunes... ah well this stuff compliments it)

Hmmm zoning out to the music and the video, forgotten what my point was... Over to the discussion

yeah man, into all kinds of object manipulation used to spend hours n hours on it, but that time is given to production now. http://www.contactjuggling.org/phpBB3/index.php is the place to be, loads of my mates on there. not sure where you're based but there's a really good scene for it in the u.k especially bristol, some of the best in the world around bristol atm. some good people in the U.S too although i don't really know many of them, not too up on the scene thesedays.

a classic dvd

this is drew's book, based around multiball but loads of stuff in there that will help single ball stuff too

my best advice is to always manipulate as slowly as possible, take your time with everything. so much scope in the scene to do allsorts, an old but classic video from ed a.k.a LTC

and some of ed+colin

my gf did some of the filming for the 2nd one.

have fun man, it's a great thing to get into.

I am heavily involved in the UK juggling scene. I am not bad at contact but not that good at all.
All about Multi-ball stuff.
I went to the European Juggling Convention in Germany a few years ago, every night at like 1 we would go into the UV tent and sit with a big group of contact jugglers (Drew was there, the guy who wrote the book along with most of the other Bristol crew I think) and they were doing the craziest things, 12 ball patterns and stuff. Truly amazing.

I also had the pleasure of watching this man, Nicholas Longuechaud, perhaps one of the most innovative contact jugglers/isolators. Without a doubt the most amazing thing I have ever seen was him doing this sort of stuff with multiple rings.

Believe me, it is way harder than it looks.

I also met Moon and Shay who are next level jugglers. Moon is not only a contact don but a bounce juggling legend and Shay is an amazing club passer and contact juggler.

This is crazy, sacred geometry or what.

Also, for the best in new Contact and contemporary juggling in general check out this site http://www.ministryofmanipulation.com/
I have had the pleasure of seeing most of them juggle irl and it is stunning.

@Symmetricalsounds - Do you go to any conventions? BJC and stuff? I may have met you before 8)

Yeh, Upstateface that was a sick video. I forget the name of the first guy but I think I recognise him. The second part of that video is Moon and a video he did for the Discovery channel. One time I saw Moon strip off naked and chase after some guy whilst really pissed
