problem is bp doesnt care and neither does the press though innit

currently nobody i know gives a shit about the oil problem....i know more people concerned with phantom problems engineered by the press to push their buttons :?

and the press are only interested in selling papers and brainwashing their readership

i feel sorry for the animals...didnt kevin costner say he has machines that he invented that could fix this as well?

That's sad... I'm in the opposite situation. Live with a climate change campaigner and he keeps insinuating that everything I've gone on about for the last couple of weeks pales into insignificance.

Can't see the vid at work, I'll give it a looksie later.

Can they not just set alight to it?

Or would that cause unfathomable problems that a simpleton like myself cant comprehend?

Most of the oil is deep underwater as far as I know.

seriously though, I heard they finally managed to cap it off this morning with an underwater robot and they'll now begin pumping it back into ships etc?

bioremediation has been about for years... as you can tell by how old this video. im going to take a guess and say BP have 100% looked into this. It's a lot more complicated than just chucking a load of bacteria over some oil and watch them eat it up. The area of this spill is huge, and a lot of it is deep underwater. A lot of the microbes will just float along the surface, they won't be able to survive as well in the pressures/darkness of underwater. It might of come on a long way since i studied it a few years ago but this problem needs more than one solution

It's a worth a try. Sounds like it could work.

I wouldn't trust Costner.

We they already failed with the chemical dispersant.
I'm not sure the microbes are going to enjoy that side dish.

I think we should just let it go.
If we cap it off, that only means that BP will drill in that spot again.

Fuck it, let the well run dry. How would that make the situation worse?

Because more oil would leak out. Just leaving it would be stupid.

Strange how many millions jump at the responsibility to donate and help 'natural disasters' i.e. 'sri lanka, haiti etc' compared to those willing to help solve problems caused by fellow humans. It's that human whiney instinct named 'why should I' that stubbornly distances people from problems created by other people

This dude says there's only one solution regarding BP, but solution two is to give way to the funding and allowance of none oil-derived fuel sources, particularly for motor vehicles. Engines can run on ample tings! Most life runs on sugarrrrrrrrrrr anyway

Obviously more oil will leak out, I don't see how more oil can make it any worse.
It only takes a tiny bit to be a disaster. We are throwing tons of money at failing ideas trying to block the pipe, when we should concentrate on the clean up.

Whether you're cleaning up one million gallons or two... it's still going to cost a fuckload.
The difference is, cleaning it up will be money well spent.

If you let more leak out then you'll have more to clean up. If you try and clean it up while you let more come in it won't work. It's like trying to empty a bath while running the tap.

Yes well, it's a compromise, which is like coming in second place.
At least you didn't lose.

I'm saying that you let it leak, let it go dry.
Spend the money on the clean up, and BP won't have a source to drill in that area again.
If we let them fix the well, that only says we want them to continue on, same as ever.
Five years from now, it will be like it never happened.

BUT, if that well pours out onto the shores of the area for the next year... alternative energy sources are going to look pretty good to some otherwise hard sell voters.

Yes, let's totally fuck over the people who live in the area more than they already have, that'll make them vote differently next time! That's a fantastic idea

Nobody cares about Louisiana.
That's why we built our polyvinyl chloride plants there.
