my faith in the members of this forum is at an all time low.. if you do play an illegal dub, how do you know that someone in the crowd maybe knows the producer? personally if i caught someone playin a tune they shouldnt have, i'd take the cd and break it over their face. it totally disregards all the hard work that REAL djs have put in to get their hands on certain tunes

I can agree with what's being said above, i wouldn't play it out without permission of the artists, regardless if theyre sellouts or not.

BUT, not releasing this tune shows a serious lack of respect for the community imo, especially if you turn a sick tune to a complete pile of shit by letting rihanna sing over it. So in a way I can understand the downloaders on this one.

This, especially when big names in the scene were playing this tune out, the likes of loefah, hatcha were all rinsing this one and then they went and sold it to rihanna?that's both betrayal and disrespect - if i made i tune and hatcha played it out i'd have wet dreams for months out of sheer happiness and yet they sell it out.makes me feel ill

not sure if it was y'alls intention, but these two statements made me literally cry laughing! is this really what we think in 2010? betrayal and disrespect? we're talking about chase and status, this is a business thing... get over yourselves!

Got nothing to do with getting over myself or anybody else, i'm just saying that i think it's a joke that they let someone like rihanna ruin a perfectly good track.maybe betrayal is a bit strong, probably would've said it's just uncool if i was in my right mind :? that said, it was probably a lot of money..

how would people realise it's illegal, it's not like they will find it out :p, maybe you could have gotten it from the artist himself
Are you both fuckin dumb?

It's easy to tell who's got it illegally coz why would some no name dj have a tune like that on dubplate? It's an attitude like this that will get you "blacklisted" in the future by producers. If they know you are one of these idiots who plays out illegal dubs that you haven't been given permission to play then they're not gonna give you their tunes. Do you know anything about dubplate culture at all?
LA_Boxers wrote: Would people in the club call up the police to say you were playing an illegal track?? i don't think so. If you've been lucky enough to ''acquire'' an unreleased tune then your going to play it out! Everyone wants to be playing tracks other people dont have........its just the way it is!

By illegal I don't mean coz you're breaking the law I mean you're pissing off the producer by playing his/her music when they haven't granted you permission to do so. Do you lot even know how this works?

I'm not even gonna get into an argument over this, I'd rather leave you to go on as you are and see where it gets you

i can understand where you're coming from, i get pissed at hearing people put myspace rips of my tunes in mixes, so it'd have to be that feeling times 10.

It's all music at the end of the day. If I went and saw somene and they played a banging tune, and I was like: "What's that tune?" and they're like "Ah i'm not supposed to have it!", I'd be "like so? What is it?".

Alternatively, If I made a tune, that was banging enough for people to risk ridicule at playing it out, because they obtained it through a different medium, I would also be stoked. The more people that hear my music the better. What do I want? 50 - 100 people hearing my tune because and amateur DJ played it, or no-one hearing it. Simple init.

I totally get the principle, and the dub culture is one of the really great things about dubstep, but IMO this just isn't that big a deal.

Especially with a tune that will never see the light of day and the artist have already made loads of money through anyway.

Ppl, it's just one tune by Chase & Status, who the hell cares about them today anyway. Vocal or no vocal, stop talking like Dj's and start talking like music listeners.

I think youll find a large majority of people on this forum are infact dj's, and even from a music listeners point of view, i want to buy this track rather than listening to a crappy youtube copy or hearing 1.42 seconds of it in a mix, the sound and bassline just dont comapre to the 320, espically on a tune such as this one.

This.

That is sorta the good thing about when dubs get leaked, usually they aint full quality, and there isn't really any point even playing them, because they sound like ass.

Anyone that would be stupid enough to actually play a rip live at a big dance would probs realize how shit it sounded once they'd dropped it.

I've put rips in mixes for fun  , but I wouldn't ever play them out.

The whole point in dubs is them being full track and full quality, if you got a rip or something in essence you don't actually own the dub, so it sorta works itself out really.

There's some confusion to whether this leak is a full 320 (that rusko lost on a cd) or a youtube rip converted.

I just saw a mix done by a (no-name) kid with this tune in the tracklisting...
Searched google and quickly found it, some dude, darkmarferdy uploaded it to mediafire: 320K - 10.4 MB (4:34)
I also found the same link to mediafire on a couple blogs.
kinda hard to keep it under control once the blogs get hold of it.
I was kinda hoping to find info stating it had been "released" for free....
but I didn't.

Bet you still downloaded it though.. haha.
There's a real one floating around and some shitty transcode.
Majority of the ones left online are just transcodes.

So they're traitors for trying to earn more money for themselves and their families (or whatever)? Most people, actually put in the position to have a choice (like C + S), would choose self-gain. It's not surprising, it's actually a lot more rational.

Serious.. Really can't understand how people can suddenly hate an artist they used to chuff, just because they decided to go a bit mainstream and thought, hold on we could make a lot of money by doing the thing we love.. why not?!. (as if you wouldn't)
Just because the new style isn't to your liking, still doesn't stop the old school tunes from being good tunes. So instead of hating on them at every oppourtunity, appreciate what they did make.. and how well they've done.
It's the same with Rusko..

wow.

some people seem to have some well immature views about music-making and careers in this thread, its not punk, its fucking electronic music produced by professional, world class musicians who have major label support and have done what pretty much anyone looking for a career in music would have done... taken a chance to get paid to produce music using the best equipment for top popular artists that will get the tunes they make heard by the most people.

i couldn't give a shit what chase and status do now but open your eyes, once you quit you're job this is your career and you'd be an idiot kid to turn anything down that they have done.

Yea, well just because I downloaded it, doesn't mean I'm gonna play it...
It really didn't sound too bad, better than the "youtube rip quality" I was expecting.
