Old School Dubstep like Toasty - The Knowledge

Post by JensMadsen » Fri Jun 04, 2010 10:37 pm

In these days in Copenhagen we have a some parties in the city called distortion. I was walking with my mate 2000F, and we walked by a rave where Toasty - The Knowledge was played. He told me how huge it used to be back in the days, and i felt kind of stupid when i didn't know the tune. So the question is, which other artists, tracks and labels should i be looking for, to find some old school stuff like this from back in 2004-2005 or even earlier. I'm really digging this tune, so it would be cool to know what i was missing out on?

Hey Jens,
Went on the distortion site and looks like there's some pretty big names who play in copenhagen!
I'm half Danish and going to Testrup hojskole near Aarhus in September, I don't suppose you'd know if there's much of a scene around there? Might be wishful thinking but would be sick to keep going to gigs while im over there. :e:

The Dubstep scene isn't as big in Jutland, that said, in May Mala played with Sgt. Pokes in Aarhus. I heard not a lot of people showed op, kind of sad. Otherwise just take the train to Copenhagen. We have the crew called OHOI! which is 2000F and JSL playing dubstep, and Tim Driver and Kristobal playing drum'n'bass. Usually about 800-1400 people show up to their events. The distortion line-up was huge. We have also just had Jakes, Rusko, Skream and Benga earlier this year. Later this year OHOI!, together with some other crews, are making the event RAW-cph which is going to be huge, the line-up hasn't been revealed yet, but TC wrote on his myspace that he was going to be playing in Copenhagen on the same day as RAW. Last year Joker, Plastician and Dj Friction played. RAW is in August though. In August OHOI! is also a part of the "STRØM-Festival" with names such as Mount Kimbie, Instramental and some more i can't remember.
I don't know if this is of any use to you. But you can add me on facebook(same name as here, just Jens Madsen) or just contact me through this forum, and i will see if i can find anything.
