Is my bass TOO heavy?

Post by Jharling » Tue Jun 08, 2010 4:35 pm

Just uploaded newest track on soundcloud. A friend of mine who is a recording engineer/ mastering guy dropped by the other day and listened to some of my new tracks. He said my bass might be too overwhelming/could blow eardrums out. Im wondering if it just my subwoofer that needs to be turned down during mixing or if maybe i should tone down the bass track in general.
Let me know what you think!

It is a bit too loud in the mix yeah. Sounds like you got at least 3 oscillators going on and some of their frequencies are clashing so it comes trough as distorted and muddy. Try exporting each oscillator sound and EQ them till they sit nicely together. Let us know if it helps
