Help me choose a sub!

Post by Davie » Wed Jun 09, 2010 6:02 pm

Hey guys,

first off sorry if this is in the wrong area of the forum. Apologies to mods, please redirect as necessary.

So I'm currently in the market for a sub. I've got a relatively standard setup, x2 Eltax Concept 180's into a Cambridge A1, however volume wise it's okay I don't feel I get the full potential out of my tunes in the bass department. Unfortunately I'm not too sure what's out there at the moment, and what's going to work with my system. I reckon I could push the budget to £200squid (I'm a student!), so can anyone help a brother out on some tasty equipment that I can get my hands on/the best I can get with the money available!?

The sort of tunes I'm going to be playing through it will vary massively. I like my James Blake, Scuba, 2562, Boxcutter, Burial etc where it's more subtle, and then I like my fat drops from 16bit, Chasing Shadows, Ripple etc and (don't shoot me) circus records artists (for example). So yeah, anything that would compliment those ranges and everything in between, is that too much to ask :P

Cheers in advance.

Be sure it has a nice diameter so it can move enough air for deep bass. And make sure you got a powerful amp for it, so you get faster response.
