haha I'm with you on that one...I bought it yesterday. He's one of the few artists that truly leaves me wondering about his music-making process and tools. Totally makes me want to give up or at the very least switch to making eurobeat or nu-nrg or some other genre where I won't feel so outclassed

To be fair, I know nothing about eurobeat or nu-nrg, so I'm sure there's some producers in that genre that would make me eat my words as well

I'm an outsider to this scene, but it seems like after Burial dropped his shit, there was this knee jerk reaction to pull back from that sound, like it was just too personal and good. Recall the derision of all the Burial copycats.
But it seems like time has passed and it's sort of okay to go in and play with this sound. Am I accurate in thinking this, or am I just fucked in the head?

Re: James Blake has done it again
No, people do act like Burial is the only person that can do that style, and if you come close to it, you're instantly accused of "trying to copy" him. I have a personal beef with this ideal, but that aside... I don't see the connect between JB and B... two separate movements...nowaysj wrote:I'm an outsider to this scene, but it seems like after Burial dropped his shit, there was this knee jerk reaction to pull back from that sound, like it was just too personal and good.
