New to dubstep production...
I've just got into making dubstep, after listening to a few tracks I got hooked and wanted to make my own. I'm currently using FL Studio 9 and Massive NI. After copying some tutorials on Youtube like a sheep, I managed to figure out how to make some basic wobble bass lines and add automation, but I can't create the sounds I want unless someone tells me exactly what to do. I don't know what many of the knobs mean or what effect they have on the sound. So could someone just explain all of this to me, and what makes a good bass sound?

Re: New to dubstep production...
id also recommend educating yourself more as to what dubstep actually is, what it used to be and where it came from. having a bigger database of knowledge will be infinatly helpful in aiding you to create a unique sound thats not cookie cutter wobble bass stuff,
IMHO ofcourse.

This is exactly how I started. I watched youtube vids for months before I even started posting here. Don't worry, if you keep watching youtube vids that relate to your daw and you pay attention you'll start to just understand. Hard to explain how it happens but it does. If you want to force the process to happen a little faster then read your Massive manual, go through the tutorials in fl9, read the fruity loops studio production bible, and read this forums production bible. You'll be flying in no time.Falconthefirst wrote:I've just got into making dubstep, after listening to a few tracks I got hooked and wanted to make my own.
