Well to connect your monitors you will need to have a different form of input. Check what input the monitors require. Usually it will be RCA or XLR. You can pick soundcards up pretty cheap. I would advise looking at the Novation NIO. I have one it has plenty of ins/outs and was only £125

Ok, i have no idea what the top one does, but the bottom one. plug monitor into xlr input. put the 1/8 stereo line output into my PC.

outputs = speakers
inputs = mics

there are other things you can connect to outputs/inputs but thats the basic idea.

Any speakers won't show even 50% of their quality in acoustically not treated room. So its better to spend more money on acoustical material then on super quality speaker.

Its acctually built into the Motherboard. i have heard praise about it though. im not super tech geek though so i couldnt tell you if these claims are true.

Check the production bible, there is a section on monitors. From what i've read the KRKs seem like the cheapest speakers which still produce a sound of reasonable quality.

i dont have a studio, its just me in a bedroom with a small midi keyboard and a copy of reason 4.
and i just dont want to stay with these logitech speakers because everybody with decent speakers who lsitens to stuff i make says it sounds like cat piss. like sounds just seem much lower pitched on good speakers.

Thanks for mentioning it but i have already checked them out and they are all out of my price range, accept from the benhieger ones, but they are way too big for my room lol.

Just because it says "Studio" Monitor doesn't mean it has to be in a studio. It's just saying that they are studio quality monitors, or at least the sound they produce. Yea they would probably be more effective if they were being used in a studio designed for sound but they don't HAVE to be in a studio to use them.

Monitors, or at least monitors worth having are going to run you upwards of 150-200 just for the cheaper quality which isn't necessarily a bad deal for use within your own home for producing. Chances are even those will net you a better frequency response than just your normal everyday speakers. I think the real question should be is it really worth it to start selling off everything you own before you really get started? In 6 months you could end up just stopping and never trying to produce a single thing ever again and end up losing all your stuff and having nothing but a pair of speakers sitting on a shelf to show for it.

I would seriously consider thinking this out a little bit more. You can still produce your music without thousands of dollars of equipment. Hell you have a midi keyboard already and I would bet that a lot of the people that are on this forum don't even have that, I know I don't. I do all my production with my laptop, my mouse and a pair or sennheiser hd-202 headphones. I'm going to give myself a bit of time before I start dropping loads of cash on all kinds of equipment. If I'm still doing this 6 months from now then chances are I'm going to be buying a lot more equipment. For now I'll just stick to picking things up a little bit at a time as I find them, generally through special deals to help save a bit of cash. Of course I have a lot of bills to pay so I have to be somewhat responsible with my money. I kind of wish I had started when I was younger. I could have used all that money from all the odd jobs I did and instead of blowing it all on crap I could have saved it and had some stuff to use.

Honestly, if you are just starting out then I wouldn't spend too much money.

I started producing on pc speakers without a sub, which I did for ages like about 2 years, before we upgraded out pc and go some quite nice PC speakers that a sub with them. They were great and I used them for another 3 years or so. Then I had a full time job for a while and so splashed out and bought some monitors.

There is no point in buying high priced gear that you aren't sure you'r going to use, especially if you're still learning the basics. I think that it's easier to get some really good headphones rather than monitors for low prices.

I think there is often an over emphasis on gear by some people. Some new cats have been recommended all sorts of expensive shit on this forum before, and I think it's stupid. S

Some reasonable headphones or pc speakers and your motherboard soundcard is plenty.

I use cheap JVC headphones (HA-R300) and these logitech pc speakers that look like they wer bought cheap( my mate gimme em).
When ive got cash im gonna get some cheapish studio headphones and some loud/bassey pc speakers. I also take a cs out with the tune/tunez
am working on round to ppls housed who have loud stereos and also peoples cars n shit.

yeah i know a guy who has all this equipment KRK rokit 8's, a load of synth and midi controllers the full works, and his stuff isnt even that good very begginer level stuff. and im sitting here with my logitech ps speakers and a logitech sub making equally as good stuff. you dont need a load of shizzle to make music unles you can appretiate everything that that equipment can do for you
