Don't know if I'll even end up using it but for 20 bucks there's just no way I can't buy it. I never buy VSTs because I just don't have the kind of money to run around dropping 100-200 dollars on everything.

I think if the profit margin was off the hook, a lot more companies would be in this market. I think a lot of the people that make vst's for us are just really nerdy people that love music and programming.

I would really like to see some serious studies done on this subject. I really do wonder if a lower price would result in a significant decline in piracy and a significant increase in revenues.

As it stands, a large portion of code/cpu overhead and cost/price is dedicated to anti-theft devices that ultimately prove to be only temporarily effective.

I cannot resist these super low priced sales. Cannot resist. I can resist this one. Tried out zeta, liked it very much, but I have massive, and now a virus, so I'm good. :)

Oh, and thanks for posting this sale up. If anyone else sees a sale like this, let me know!

Thanks for the tip Crytek!
It gets even cheaper if you buy it from the US store and put a fake billing address...

I think the fact that companies can now sell digitally it just helps increase revenue since a lot of money is also put into manufacturing and distribution. So when I see a company going from 100 to 20 on a digital purchase it just makes me think more about how much money is actually saved with this process alone.

I do agree that the profit margin for 90% of the Virtual Instruments on the market most likely isn't that high. The few that manage to get some sort of syndication through free publicity from somewhat bigger named artists probably make a pretty damn good profit, but I would just have to assume that they could potentially make more if the item was affordable to the average at-home producer. I'm sure there are plenty more of us than there are people that can actually afford their products at the prices they are now. My money goes towards the family and bills and I just can't afford to drop 200 bucks on a copy of Massive. However, if it was around 75, I would seriously start considering picking up a copy, and if I purchased it digitally I bet their profit margin for that purchase would most likely rival that of someone buying a hard copy of it from the site for 200.

I've bought 4 VSTi's to date and I really only get much use out of 2 of them. Mainly Albino which I picked up through some special offer I found online, and Sylenth which I got for like 30 bucks as a bundle offer with FL. However, now that I bought this one it could potentially replace Sylenth.

i don't think this one is going back up. it's an old ass synth and the 100$ makes it unable to compete with modern software. still, i love these oldie synths as they're easy on the cpu and cakewalk stuff really has it's own sound. make sure you check out square synth too - shitload of presets in that one.

I agree that more people would buy software if it was more reasonably priced. Most of the software I've bought has been under £100.

That said, just think about the length of time it takes to learn enough to be able program music software.....

Programming can be a bitch, and music theory is endless...!

Thanks for the link :)

I assume the developpers do their math before they decide not to sell off their software but I'd like to see how the sales increase while the price decreases.

I've been playing with this all day. Absolute bargain. Brilliant synth. Does anyone know how to initialize a bank?
