What a performance! I hope France don't make it to the final 16.

Good game and a great result for the Mexicans. The French don't deserve to get anywhere near the next round - Domanech is an absolute joke

Amazing performance from Mexico... terrible from France. They at least turned up for the first half... 45 minutes of average football is the best they've done all tournament so far.

That Dos Santos is a bit tasty... he deserved one.

Oh, and that makes things even more difficult for South Africa now... my housemate is praying for a vuvzella-inspired miracle.

Anyone wanting a bit more in depth analysis of the games should check out zonal marking.

He's using his mind powers to make France lose.

Spot on here:
A well-drilled teams of decent individuals will generally triumph over a disorganised bunch of top-class players
Just reading up on the analysis of some of the games, this is actually quite interesting. :)

Germany are my favourite out of the 'big' teams, but that was hilarious - Podolski could've had a double hat-trick on a different day. Well done Serbia - they deserved it in the end!

Klose out for the next couple of games then... BIG loss.

Gutted for Podolski. It just wasn't his day.

If Germany finish 2nd and we finish 1st I'd rather play the Germs without Klose.

Also...if we finish 2nd...I'd MUCH rather play Serbia than Germany. Obviously they're still a top quality team who'd probably beat us....but I'd rather go out against them than Germany. Our whol rivalry means Germany will up there game anyway....

Aparently Domenech uses zodiac signs as part of his selection process. No wonder France are awful.

The French coach, probably uniquely, and definitely bizarrely, admits that his team selection is influenced by astrology. Shortly before the last World Cup Domenech (Aquarius with Virgo rising) claimed he had problems with Robert Pires because Pires was a Scorpio, who always worked against Domenech's interests.

Yeah, supposedly he doesn't like playing Gallas because whatever star sign he is have poor concentration or something...

He's bonkers.

A lot of people seem to think Capello's going to put David James in goal tonight. I hope to God he doesn't. Joe Hart is the best choice by far. Basically, what this guy said.
i'm sure w our best keeper Hart starting' the hugely impressively in-form Dawson paired alongside Terry, we'll see good changes from the disastrously slow Carra' and w J Cole let loose alongside Lennon' and Stevie left to wonder at will just behind Roonaldo; w the likes of Heskey and Crouch and SWP and Defoe just kept on the bench unless really needed, it'll be a vintage England performance w the 11 best players we've got being utilised in their best positions

oh.

oh no.
