Which is the truth about maybe.. 70% of os-x users these days. no?
The Apple Macintosh has received little recent attention from virus writers or, indeed, anti-virus researchers. Though the number of native Mac viruses has stayed virtually static for several years, the recent upsurge of macro viruses has not left the Macintosh community unscathed. Many viruses which infect Microsoft Office applications will do so as happily on a Macintosh as on a PC. Even Mac users who don’t use vulnerable applications or application versions may, without appropriate anti-virus software, unknowingly pass on infected files. Many Mac sites, however, are only just waking up to these facts, belatedly and expensively. This paper briefly reviews the shared history of viruses and the Mac, summarizes the current situation and considers future possibilities and strategies.wirez wrote:As much as I've heard a Windows user say that Mac's can still get viruses, I've still never seen itdeadly habit wrote:hope you have an antivirus program and not under the typical mac user delusion of securitywirez wrote:I'm a mac

1. Do I really need Mac antivirus software?
If you never connect your Mac to the Internet, the answer is no. But if you do use the Internet, the answer is yes. And since most everyone is online these days, that means that the majority of Mac users need to consider installing Macintosh compatible antivirus software. Having said that, it is true that Macs are not as prone to malware - most Mac infections occur as a result of user behavior (downloading Warez or counterfeit software, for example). Whereas a Windows system is easily susceptible to a so-called drive-by silent infection that happens through no fault of the user, a Mac infection usually requires some deliberate (and thus avoidable) action.

yeah i know what one is... but it still would have to be written in mac's code for it to work on a mac.
yea which is more hassle than it's worth since most serious networks are nix or windows basedDepone wrote:yeah i know what one is... but it still would have to be written in mac's code for it to work on a mac.
