I'm just speaking the truth, a lot of people I know who're into that stuff, joke around saying "who'd wanna hack a mac, all you'd get is folders of facebook pictures and a well organised itunes library"

Which is the truth about maybe.. 70% of os-x users these days. no?

Lol surely people still bank/wank/whatever on macs the same as PC's though? They're all the same if you know how to use them

Probably, though my cubase disc is by windows/os-x.. I'll probably stay on cubase till I wealthy enough to cop another DAW.. I mean, I already own 4...

If you never connect your Mac to the Internet, the answer is no. But if you do use the Internet, the answer is yes. And since most everyone is online these days, that means that the majority of Mac users need to consider installing Macintosh compatible antivirus software. Having said that, it is true that Macs are not as prone to malware - most Mac infections occur as a result of user behavior (downloading Warez or counterfeit software, for example). Whereas a Windows system is easily susceptible to a so-called drive-by silent infection that happens through no fault of the user, a Mac infection usually requires some deliberate (and thus avoidable) action.

Thing is... i believe (from what i have been told) that mac osx is fairly watertight and is therefore harder to infiltrate and fuck up.
Correct me if im wrong. I have used macs in over 6 years, no virus protection and i have yet to notice one single virus or malware attack. Maybe i just dont see it when it happens

yea which is more hassle than it's worth since most serious networks are nix or windows based
but the more people that get macs and use em, especially the way they market their products, the more lucrative it will be to spend time coding or modding code to be osx compatible.
