was watching glastonbury coverage the other day and dizzie rascal was doing a number with smellslike teen spirit as the tune. wondered if kurt cobain would be happy about it? i think he'd be spinning in his grave!

the worst part about it was that the guitarist played the exact same solo as the original one! why not do a little bit of improv?!

In Utero is amaziiiing. All the albums are great though.

Yeah Butch Vig is a genius. Soma followed closely by Quiet are likely the single best rock music studio productions of the 90's.

We wanted to have things going on in the left ear and right ear all the time".[4] One of Corgan's main goals was to create a sense of sonic depth, but, as Corgan said, "without necessarily using delays or reverbs — to use tonalities instead."[11] For the album, the guitars were layered multiple times. Corgan has stated that "Soma" alone contains up to 40 overdubbed guitar parts.[12] Vig stated that as many as 100 guitar parts were compressed into a single song.[4]

i read somewhere else that Corgan was obsessed with getting it to sound so good, because of like the permanent nature of recording and the ability to do multiple tracks and stuff he wanted to create a piece of music which sounded as good as it possibly could, if that makes sense. Rocket really stands out for me for production value.
