To be honest I'm ALMOST happy I don't own all of these, exactly for that reason of having to "live up" to how much your gear is worth or whatever the fuck.
A lot of these are harder to use than I expected. Electronic music definitely has come a long way as far as user-friendliness.

I know this is like some kid talking about his toy car to a ferrari driver, but arturia's arp emulation sounds really good, if anyone is into that sort of thing. I'm absolutely positive the real deal pisses all over it, but it does sound very good for a vst.

Regarding your weeks stay, that is not enough time. Just to really start to learn any of those synths would take you that long, let alone stacks and stacks of them, especially with the intention of actually producing something. That shit would scare me, to tell you the truth. I'd still do it in a heart beat, though!

Thankfully I've been able to aquire some analog shit at home so know the fundamentals of everything... the real hard part right now is figuring out all this mixing board / bus / rack stuff..... AHRHGHGH
Synth architectures are all somewhat similar (except for the EMS VCS3... what the fuck, if anyone has any idea how to make it sound like anything but a crazy alien siren, let me know).

And yeah I hear you, my friend and I did an A/B test with my MS-20 and his vst of the same synth, and it's all very close.
To me it's more about standing in a room and turning physical things and having something real as opposed to being huge snobs about sound. Cause to be honest it all ends up being recorded into my computer
