Well, I would rather pretty good pads + good faders vs excellent pads + no faders. I don't even use velocity controls on them most of the time.

What exactly did you find the difference was between the 2?

If I understand your question, the pads on the mpk suck. Sometimes they don't trigger, sometimes they double trigger. For tapping out beats, forget about it, it is not a reality to use them for that. People have said I'm not hitting them hard enough... I'm 6'2" 240, when I hit the pads the whole mpk bends in the middle. I use maximum sensitivity and all the rest, no difference. The pad kontrol on the other hand, triggers the moment you hit it, you can get light taps, heavy hits, you can get really quick successive hits, the pads are like what pads are supposed to be.

Check the one of many threads on here about akai pads  I'm going to try the mod on the mpk today! I would really like to get the mpk's pads working. If they work, I can get rid of the pad kontrol cause I need the desk space...

I have the MP24 and love it, cept one of my drunk friends spilled a beer on it so now 2 faders don't work (stupid tnuc). At any rate the sliders and knobs have a nice feel to them.

If I might add my shopping cart:

Open Labs NeKo XXL is my dream machine and since I got a job yesterday I've started saving up for it...gonna take a good long while to get it but I think it's worth it.
