This post is admittedly a bit self-serving but here goes anyway. I always hold on to tunes I have finished thinking I will send them out to labels and get them signed, make money from them etc. Thing is though, the mailouts / self promotion thing always bores me. I have been meaning to create a website for people to get my tunes from but haven't got round to it, so I have made some available on soundcloud. If you add me I will send out more soon (again for free).
In the interests of making this appropriate for the production forum I would be interested to hear what people think of my tracks and specifically where my mixdowns suffer on everyone's individual systems - I think I know where the problems are with some of these tunes but would like to see whether you guys agree.
ps the tunes are finished but if there is enough interest I will happily accept comments and remix them.

This is a feedback/promo thread and you know it.
I get it man, I get frustrated with noone listening too, but you have to understand that 1> social networks, soundcloud, youtube, myspace, facebook, ect. are one of the BEST places to get your tunes actually LISTENED too, and just becuase you use this sites dont feel like you have to enable downloads, you dont. By posting your good tunes online and keeping them secure from pirates, youll leave the option for labels to sign them open, and still earn new fans. Besides, I tihnk alot fo the poeple maintaining labels are going to see a bit of work to hype your tracks yourself as a good show of character, and a help on thier workload.
Also, you said you fin the whole self promotion thing boring, an I can kina see why your not getting many plays then =/... I fin it boring too man, I bet anyone you ask on here will agree... but I still eal with it for each n every tune I decie to publish to the bulk of my lsitener base. I make 4... sright 4... seperate masters with various tweaks on them, one for sounclou, one for myspace, an one for youtube, plus my 320/dj master, as they all use iferent compression engines, and all benefit from it... I have a mailling list for lsiteners, and one for djs, and if Im mailing to djs, I hand write each one, vs. listeners get a bulk forward email. I post on here, icv, tkup, aotn, tr, and my own forum. I get in contact with my couple go -to's on aim, and get the feedback snowball started down the hill.
You have too.
Work is work man, and you have to see yourself as a buisness at some point. Your music is a product to sell. You think, the guy who invented OIreck vaccuums got wher ehe is without working his ass off to promote his product? Nope. He went oor to door handing out catalogues and selling units. Get used too it. Buisness's... require... WORK... crazy I know.
And btw.
Thanks for the out of place feedback thread.
I like excuses to post my spam.
Bes tof luck, in everything you do man...
Btw, pm me that soundcloud link, and Ill follow you. I give feedback when I can!

is whwn i have like 16 dloads & 3comments,
what happened to a simple thankyou?
Yea that does suck sometimes but at the same time, I think if someone downloaded they thought it was good enough to want it, and in a way a download is sort of like it's own comment even if you don't know exactly who did it. Most of the time though, the people that download any of my songs off soundcloud usually send me a personal message which I regard much more than just a comment on the track bar.

Too many people want to be musicians without putting any work in. It's frustrating, makes me feel sick and is bad for business.

I still fail to see what the problem is with wanting and trying to make money from music
