Is it just me (as in, my copy of the song) or does the original afterlife clip really badly. The youtube one does, my copy that I bought off beatport does. If that's the case he should fix it and re-release it. Not heard it on a system though yet.

Yeap my wav of this sounds really harsh. Perhaps it is just mastered badly? It is bricked right out in the waveform.

you know stuff on youtube is compressed like crazy......so dont go by what youtube sounds like. its not meant to be good quality.



the mastering was done by Beau at masterpiece who does the mastering for dBridge, Instra:mental..cuts plates for kryptic minds, youngsta etc.
he knows what he's doing and I was there attending the mastering....

this is the first i've heard of any issues ...........

Not really talking about youtube here It's a fair query when I have payed for this song and don't play it because it sounds shit. As I said, it could be for a number of reasons though.

I thought it was beat-port but i get some of my music from amazon downloads now I think about it, and they have a version ripped from the get darker compilation. It makes sense that version might be a bit fucked then, it's poor quality in the same way this is http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... +lung&aq=f the time-stretched sounding vocals distort quite badly. Cheers for taking an interest anyway.

OH- and is broken (getting) released at all?

I dont sell Kokeshi on amazon..so it must be something from the Get Darker thing..thats a real shame.

regarding Broken..its not out yet...still sorting out the next releases..but I hope to release it yes..i'm working on an album as well

Yo peeps! Hearing this from the horses mouth right here... I bought it off itunes, beatport etc purely for my own referencing... beatport and itunes used different forms of compression, both of which i too noticed were a bit "clipped"... however i've played the 12 out on a number of occassions (obviously ) and never had a problem with the sound... Beau Thomas is the MAN!!

but yes... digital downloads tend to be over compressed and can clip... so i recognise what you may be saying...

buy the 12" and play vinyl instead! keep it alive!!

I don't think it's anything wrong with us, but as Lung said, compression at the other stores.

When you distribute tunes, it's a requirement to send wavs and the wavs sound fine.

just to add to what the get darker guys were saying...the wavs for get darker are the same ones as were used for the vinyl cut and my digital release..its all the same mastered version.

very odd..i guess it is just the way they compress it at the online stores.

i've bought a copy off itunes and i think its good..

It's not clipping. It is the way it is produced. I get the same "clipping" effect from the vinyl and that's because Lung, with all do respect, uses too much percussion on most of his tracks. It's just percussion overload on that 12" which, in my opinion, induces the so called "clipping" effect. The percussion flows into one sort of "loop" which gives a clipping effect.


Now, before I get shot here. I actually reviewed this 12 inch last year and gave it a very good score (Kokeshi appreciated the review btw). The high end percussion overload was my only beef with this track, as its melodic qualities are more than abundant.
This remix is much more minimal and therefore, I actually prefer it over the original in some way.

i agree completely, the high end of the percussion on the original is far too much, i like the track but the drums overcomplicate it and turn a simple bassline and melody into a skittery 'slowed down dnb' tune, its the hi-hats that annoy me really, the rest is pretty cool
