HAACK - intro is deep, the darkness of the track is kryptic minds-esque, the sample is sick and the drop is badass. like somkebody else said though it could do with a little switchup here and there, otherwise its big.

DjPsychonaut - i dig the intro, i thought it was gonna be another average roller but the bassline is very different, i like it. the break down is a little too long for a tune like this, but that wouldnt really bother me on a dancefloor lol. also as i mentioned before to switched some things up maybe on the second drop could be worth a try.

A-List - damn this tune is evil. i would of toned that bass sound down a bit, but it would probably destroy a dancefloor regardless. not usually my type of tune so good work

@hakka- I love when it changes from the break section to the 8 bit organ sound! fantastic transition. the breaks are catchy as hell throughout.

@goudger - an incredibly chill track with a nice vibe, could use a little more motion for my taste though.

@haack - I also agree that the track needs a little more variation, but whats there now is a solid base to build off.

so lemme know what you guys think

@ Jake - Cheers mate, really wanted to switch the breaks up from dnb to drumstep. Works really well and gives the synth 2 diffrent sounds. Love your tune, the glitchy drums and the bleeps that come in, very creative! Great tune man! :D

Haack : the whole mood i thought was nice, it wasnt too dirty and it wasnt too flaccid it was just right Itd be nice as a smoking tune, props.

Mr Ooze : the drums were on point man, as for the drop the switching up is interesting but it would have been nice to see some really beat bending noise keep it up!

Siderealdb: heartbeat raiser here man! the intro got me wanting more the rest...BOOM im loving your take on it mate relly good work well done.

den5hion: Cheeky sample :D Fucking nice work man proper face melter. big up.

rekstep : there seems to be a lot of these samples flying around however, the structures top got a right shuffle on here man keep that shit goin!

goudger1: summer tunes ftw tbh, its nice to get a break once and a while. The vocal is wicked but maybe not for a summer tune, i could see it scaring people tryna eat theyre bbq  but props for trying somthing different!

hakka: Im feeling the drums, right up my alley here! yeah got a good vibe goin here man,im liking your stuff!

You really felt like you should do hat to Crass?
I post on here to exchange feedback to improve my sound and help others improve their sound. If you can tell me why it doesn't sound good to you, that would be helpful.

On your question: yes, i think punk songs can and should be versioned. I'm probably a little bit older than most of you kids on here and i grew up listening to crass. That band has had a lot of influence on me as a person, so i decided to start doing crass dubs on request. So far, i've finished two. I know that most of you just layer your snares & add reverb, make the bass wobble, use a two step riddim and call your music dubstep. Sure i don't see anything wrong with that. I'm more interested in the versioning aspect of dub music - experimenting with samples and creating new dub versions. That's what i've done with Eek-A-Mouse, Biggie Smalls, Devin the Dude and now my new project is Crass. Do you find it offensive or sinful? I'm also using linux, like you.

Siderealdb wrote:@Worker Ant, I agree with basic A. You may want to jump over the 38th parrelel as well, kim might like your tunes, the rest of the world, not so much. Keep trying, but if your shit doesn't sound as good as the rest of the shit on here, than I'd recomend not posting at all.
Whose "kim"? I hope that wasn't a racial attack. I'm definitely gonna keep trying, but i don't usually get feedback (or random shit talk) as bad as this, so i'd like to get more actually. What can be improved in the track i posted?

@Worker Ant--crutch dub soiciety, all right you asked for it. Your song has no distinct groove in it, despite drum parts that are repeated throughout the 4 min ordeal. Every instrument seems to be out of tune with each other and themselves, and they seem to all originate from a little $10 toy piano. Then, to top it all off you have some retard saying shit in the background that's incomphrehensible.

If I were you I would start off with using a computer. Then install reason, fl, or whatever one of the million programs are out there. Make a drum beat, and draw in your bassline or whatever. When adding other instruments ask yourself questions like, does this sound in time? Does this sound in key? Should I QUANTIZE the notes I played into here? And one of my favorites, is this sample making my song sound worse?

As far as you pulling the race card, that is not even close to what I intended. It was meant to be a political joke, but I guess I have to be politically correct about that too. I would never assume to know what ethnicity you are just because you live in South Korea. Just like you can't assume that I'm a Native American because I live in the United States.

On the plus side, I'm glad your still motivated on improving it. I think you'll find it more helpful to hear the honest truth, then proceed in that direction. And the next time you post you'll probably blow us all out of the water, cause you'll have taken the time, and motivation, to make sure that no one will cap on your shit again, by being proactive and removing a shitty parts as soon as they show up, and adding good parts where they need to be.

@HAACK - nice and vibey, everything's real crisp sounding. just seems like it needs a little more variation, but nothing too crazy, cuz it's got a nice flow to it already.

@mr ooze - that's a big kick man, bass is heavy. that effect on the stereo bass at like 1:50 and again later on is so nice, i wanted more of it. nice track overall.

@Siderealdb - wow, insanely tight man. that screaming sample is cool, it feels a bit cluttered in some of the middle segments, but if you were going for that then keep it that way, sounds real evil.

@den5shion - haha, didn't think someone could flip Rage to dubstep that nastily. LARGE TRACK!!!

@goudger - like the feel of that track a lot. everything fits real well to me except the vocals. not sure if it's the sample itself or the effects you have on it. personally i wanna hear it without the vocals, but i'm sure plenty of people would dig it with them in there. love that chord progression too! the mix is like perfect, can't believe how many people on here are that good at mastering their own shit, makes me jealous :)

@Lman - the intro is a little out there for me. sounds like you were going for a glitchy rhythm feel, but might've gone overboard (some things just seem too out of place). cool bass noises though, i don't think that flute sample fits the key though.

been workin on this for a few nights now, need feedback. thx.

Thanks Siderealdb, that's helpful. I'm using all open source software on linux - ZynAddSubFX, Ardour, qjackctl, LADSPA, Hydrogen, etc. I definitely need to work on developing my critical listening ears and learning more about "in key" and "in time" - i haven't had any experience playing other instruments (besides MIDI synthesizer) or any musical education, so i gotta figure stuff out myself. Thanks again for letting me know what's up.

Dude quit talking about my setup like you know something about it... Just because I run a *nix operating system doesnt mean Im using the SHIT software that comes with it.

This is like asusming mac users run garageband.

I use JACK to have access to the LADSPA effects for live processing when I dj. Thats it. I dont know what gave you the impression that I use anything else, or use open source stuff when I produce, but I dont.

I run FL. Just cuase I do it on WINE through my JACK drivers instead of my asio ones, doesnt mean anytihng. Its still FL  ... not the bullshit you got installing ustudio. Honestly, the fact your using Ardour and Zyn might be why you sound like your making shit on a fisher price my first keyboard.
