help with different technique?

Post by fudge-1337 » Sat Jul 10, 2010 4:46 am

hello people :)

just wondering if you could help me, i've been listening to alot trance/dance ( i like to make trance/dance dubstep cus thats ma style and im cool :D ) and i've notices the 101 different kinda of down lifters there are. seems like im answering my own question but theres the one which is like really resonancey and the noise can bearly be heard, and the properly flanger/flangusy one. if you rude bwoys got any techniques you'd like to share/explain to me that would be wicked, or maybe point me to some awesome tutourials then even better :D p.s. i did check the production bible and didnt find anything, may of miss it, if so a links would be sweet aswell.

thanks :D x <3

risers and stuff like that are typically noise with a relatively narrow band pass filter sweeping across it

adjust resonance and bandwidth to taste, season with FX

they're cheesy and cliche as fuck though

Yup pretty much. That should be your basic strategy for everything.

sure, plain noise sweeps are, but there's so much you can do with a riser. apply the same envelope to chorus, phase, flanger, lfo, filter, etc etc for some really trippy effects. i use quite a lot of risers, both noise and tonal, and they are all completely different.

i realise it's not really a dubstep thing, but dude's asking about making trancestep, so...

plus i'm trying to be nice to the n00bs these days.
