I can successfully record my synth into the computer using the midi ins/outs and audio in on my presonus audiobox, but for some reason it only records it into the left channel. I must have set it up wrong or something but I can't figure it out.

Thanks
I think I know whats happening here. Go to your "audio from" panel on your track. Where it says 1/2 click on it and change it to 2

This is def. the problem. You are recording mono yet you have it set as the stereo inputs of 1 and 2 rather than just 1 or 2 (Which ever your input from your synth is coming from).

Alright yeah I figured that out on my own actually before you posted that haha. Thanks though. Now for some reason when I play back something on the external track it sounds all clicky and bad. I have a midi drum-rack track going at the same time, but that wouldn't be the problem because it doesn't route that midi anywhere other than to the rack, right?

Also, how do I get ableton's clock to sync up with my MDP26 and my R3? I'd like to able to control their tempos from my computer so I can have the arps timed right and stuff.

Thanks, I'll probably ask a million more questions in the near future.

Set your clock source to external in your devices and enable sync in your midi preferences in ableton.

Anyone else have trouble with the clip envelopes (pitch bend, panning, volume, ect.) actually responding to the automation you've written? I have the most problems when I only set it up for a 1/16th note or so. I figure the computer is just not fast enough to respond that quick to the changes. Any tips on how to get the envelopes to respond?

Question - is there a way to lock an ableton paramater to a set value. Say I have auto-filter on a bass noise, and I want it to slide all the way to the bottom, but I want the actual value there to be about 10% of the full thing, can I change it somehow? I like that bass sweet spot a few notches from the bottom on a high pass, and want to lock it there.

I may not understand your question fully, but wouldn't recording automation do the trick or simply drawing in the automation where you want it to lock?

It's to tweak live the dial on the albeton effect live - i want to lock the lowest setting to a few notches from the bottom, so when I tweak it the entire frequency range is to my liking if you see what I mean.

Midi or key map the parameter you want to control and then in the midi map window on the left hand side you can set the limits of the parameters that you will be controlling. Should work.

Put it in a group and assign the parameter to a macro. Then you can adjust the macro range in the Map Mode.

(the track is Datsik - mechano (culprate remix), and is beat mapping to 100bpm-ish) thanks for any help

double click on the sample ur using in the drum rack, then it should come up with a simpler, or sampler, then at the end of the simpler ther is a little gap. drag the EQ/effect what ever there :D

or in the session view you can expand out the drum rack using the little arrow button and then drop onto the relevant channel.

I have no idea how to do any of what you just said, I'm still pretty new to Ableton!

is it worth it?

i'm still on 8.1 because it's been the most reliable version of 8 i've had so far and i'm scared of rocking the boat.

It's just a bunch of bug fixes for issues I have never encountered nothing special, I would stick with what version your on if it's working for you
