That picture was just an excellent demonstration of ableton's one screen windowpane kind of clutter. At the basest level, I like to have my mixer open and my arrange page open at all times. I also like the arrange page to take up a full screen so I can see wtf I'm working on.wayoftheworld wrote:and the fact that you think ableton is lacking screen real estate because of a picture where nearly everything is expanded just kinda leads me to believe that if you did know the program, you'd realize that most of the shit taking up screen space in that picture can be collapsed, allowing for a hell of a lot more screen real estate.
and sure, fruity may be working out great for you on two 22" monitors, but eliminate one of them and shit gets cluttered pretty quick.
I do kind of sketch on a laptop, but it's a 17inch with suuuper dooooper resolution, so I can see a lot, massive looks tiny on the screen. It does clutter up a bit, but I just close vst's I'm not using. I will grant that ableton is a good layout for a single screen laptop, but it's inability to adapt beyond that paradigm gets it a swift kick in the nuts from me.
