Ok brosteps first off yes it is 'shorthand' and any real head does know the difference, if in person I had someone laugh and assume I listened to circus etc they would probably get knocked out. I love most kinds of dub, including the tracks which make people think they are better than everyone, as well as the tracks which are looked down upon. I have never met a dub elitist in person, but I have met alot of people that this board would consider scum (circus record boys). you do have to admit that dub (the actual genre) is huge in london, so a fair amount of people from london (and most of the musical world) will think it's strange and silly to use another genre's name as "shorthand" for dubstep... it's just weird, is all. it would be like if i decided to call "hip hop" "country" for shorthand
