I remember back when I got into dubstep properly years ago thinking "wow, this is great and I can't see how it's ever going to end up crossing into commercial sounding wank, it just doesn't lend itself to that kind of sound (too dark, atmospheric and either deep or aggressive)". Even if that was the case they could atleast put a bit of effort into it, prove there worthiness as a producer and prove to the person who asked them to do the remix. They obviously asked him to do it for a reason!

i would turn it down... you need to protect your integrity.

It's a sign of just how popular dubstep has got that producers are being asked to make remixes of pop covers! Admittely, this remix is pretty weak, and lacks any real spark of creativity. But the cover definitely serves the purpose of bringing dubstep to a larger crowd...

The question is really - do you want more people to be aware of and enjoy dubstep? Or would you rather it stayed underground? Really it's hard to fight mass popularity, and once the big labels get involved there will always be people willing to sell a remix to them...

I think it wasn't that bad I guess, better than some of the stuff I've made..... but if I were to analyze this song like everybody else on this post I probably wouldn't like it at all for the reason that the song remixed is NOT dubstep worthy.... the really flowy slow and emo-ness makes it no longer dubstep... i can't say my stuff is that great either though

As for keeping it underground, I agree all the way!!!... it's what keeps us listening... if it becomes mainstream, I'll probably move onto something different and be pretty damn disappointed!
