Memo to everyone:
Please stop making godawful dubstep remixes of equally godawful pop songs.
Unless you are MrKoekje and you are making a track that heavily samples "Combination Pizza Hut And Taco Bell", because that doesn't really count.

Hate the original which makes this shit too!

Make your own tunes from scratch, stop doing shit remixes. All these people do is add a kick, snare and some shite bassline to the original song.

Incredibly depressing.

It's just fucking horrible to hear this kind of shite. I remember back when I got into dubstep properly years ago thinking "wow, this is great and I can't see how it's ever going to end up crossing into commercial sounding wank, it just doesn't lend itself to that kind of sound (too dark, atmospheric and either deep or aggressive)". Just couldn't imagine how it would

but fuck it has.

I hate these fucking pop remixes.

So I guess you're saying if you had a family and mouth's to feed, and as a producer you were asked to do a remix of a popular song for money you would turn it down?
Just intrigued....
Can't deny it's a well produced remix regardless of whether or not you like the original.

When did the amount of money he was paid to make it etc. come into account?

Even if that was the case they could atleast put a bit of effort into it, prove there worthiness as a producer and prove to the person who asked them to do the remix. They obviously asked him to do it for a reason!

It's a sign of just how popular dubstep has got that producers are being asked to make remixes of pop covers! Admittely, this remix is pretty weak, and lacks any real spark of creativity. But the cover definitely serves the purpose of bringing dubstep to a larger crowd...

The question is really - do you want more people to be aware of and enjoy dubstep? Or would you rather it stayed underground? Really it's hard to fight mass popularity, and once the big labels get involved there will always be people willing to sell a remix to them...

I think it wasn't that bad I guess, better than some of the stuff I've made..... but if I were to analyze this song like everybody else on this post I probably wouldn't like it at all for the reason that the song remixed is NOT dubstep worthy.... the really flowy slow and emo-ness makes it no longer dubstep... i can't say my stuff is that great either though

As for keeping it underground, I agree all the way!!!... it's what keeps us listening... if it becomes mainstream, I'll probably move onto something different and be pretty damn disappointed!

I think Marlow has done a fine job of adding his own sound to a song that I otherwise don't agree with. Keep it up, Marlow.
"At our dance, no one's watching anyone really. They're just there in their own space having a good time... It's not like an old rave where everyone wants to come and hug you and be your friend. There's no moodiness. Not in our dance... It's just purely sound."

Why would anyone want any version of Fireflies going in their set?

I guess I just don't get it.
