Renoise 2.6 Beta is out

Post by collige » Mon Jul 19, 2010 6:09 am

http://www.renoise.com/about/what-s-new-2-6/
Samples have a new setting, "Autoseek", which will, when enabled, make them behave like a traditional audio channel. You can start playing back the song at any position, and the sample will automatically seek to the current position in the song without having to be triggered via a Note On command. This works regardless of how far in the past the sample was triggered. Highly recommended for vocals, background ambiences and other recorded audio.
It's about damn time.
Statement of Intent VIP / Sahaquiel v4 single out now on UK Trends.

Indeed!

I'm curious how far the tools developped by the users can go. I'm sure there will be plenty of new exciting features very soon.
Plus, and that's probably the beauty of it, the users can work on features requested by other users, making it easier on the Renoise team who can work on more important updates.
I hope so anyway :D

taktik wrote:No one will be able to say you what exactly is possible with scripting the way we have it now and what not. There are for sure limits right now (no "realtime" scripting like DSP or meta devices), but there's a LOT you can access and change. What you are able to do with this, is only something you can answer ;) There are people who write a vowel filter with Renoise native FX only, now try to imagine where the limit is in the scripting when you're a bit creative.

But hold your horses. Take a look into all the scripting docs to see what's made public, what not. Take a look at the existing tools to see how they "do things" to get a better overview.

Even if you got an idea of what and how you want, but then stumble upon something that is not yet published by the API: give us some feedback about this, and we'll try to add this to the API. All the stuff we have now is not written in stone. The API can be extended just like any part of Renoise can...

And if you're not a developer or not interested in writing tools, then try to convince someone who is.

thank fuck for long sample support!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so many times i have to play 1 minute of a song to get to hear all the parts i want for the last 10 seconds of the song :u: :u: :u: :u:

and this scripting thing could get really interesting, could be the most subtle yet effective release for renoise yet

Really interesting release.

Already getting my chops up with the scripting. I want to be able to make things happen in renoise (like a full interface for my Emu E4xt Ultra). Fun times indeed.

I assume you have gotten the IRC script to work for you then? It's not working for me :(

So now v2.6 is officially out, it's time for the Renoise team to work on a better automation panel.

If you desperately need this too, make sure to let them know on this thread :D
