I'm usually alright at making sounds but I'm trying to make a weird sounding bass and I don't really know how to describe it or how to make it. I guess what I want is similar to indisco by Bar9 so if anybody has any ideas on making that, then help a brother out :P

The sound I could really use some help making is in the link below at around 53/54 seconds. Its the sort of waah noise that comes in on every other kick drum hit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSlDKLgR2hY

Any help would be very much appreciated :)

sounds like synced lfo of 1/2, maybe a scream filter with some resonance or something

I know there's some LFO/filter business going on, but I can't seem to get near it.... (which is probably my stupidity) anyone got any ideas?

the noise I'm looking for is at 1.18 on this;

Pad that comes in at 1:19 and on, comes back a lot more clearly at 1:54.

I can make pads, except pads like these. Mine sound fucking brassy and annoying when I make them. When I wanna make pads like these, I use the wavetables and use an LFO to modulate which waveform I am using. Slowish attack and longish release + band stop filter, little bith of delay and chorus. Still, sounds naaasty and brass like. Like most of my pads do when I don't go for overly full sounding ones.

Help? -.-

Envelope > low-pass filter cut-off + envelope > LFO rate > wavetable position sounds better. As does reverb. Still not too satisfied, but it's better.

I assume you are aiming for the wishy-washy slappy wobble? I don't have a better way to describe it :lol: . The key with that one is definitely using a "Saw Up" wave as your LFO waveform. Play around with a desecnding pattern of automation on the rate too. That's how you get that "wheel of fortune" spin to it. Something like 1/24th for a quarter bar, 1/16th for a quarter, 1/12th for a quarter and so on. Sounds damn loud too (like every other Bar9 wub...). Maybe some compression on top of all of that to make it really pop.

Sounds like a mid-bandpassed rimshot tightly gated with a very short delay.

big fan of that release it sounds like a rim layred with a clap its got the wooden perc hit with a def but faint clap tail...as for the eq i wud say bandpass as ^^ and prob why the clap isnt so full on altho cud have used envelopes. Im still a monitorless noob but thats my 2 cents

I'm fairly new to the whole breaking down sounds but could one get that by automating the resonance on a filter some how? envelope/lfo?
