It's just another way to get exposure. I think I've had over half my plays on youtube. I actually don't know anybody who doesn't use youtube for music.
:o

sounds like i need to get a youtube profile going!!

Generally, I'd say that the music groups on Facebook aren't the best..
However, if people were to start doing what that "ENDBOSS" producer did, and add everyone from the existing dubstep/EDM/bass groups.. It'd be an effective medium, he's the only person i've seen do this so far on Facebook.

I actually no longer have a myspace account. I use my soundcloud for showing tunes to my mates and posting things here then I am currently trying to set up a youtube account, bandcamp and bandpage (which integrates into facebook) for the side of things more 'public' people see. I find it very hard to get motivated to do things like that though as I don't like messy graphics and it takes me loooong to build them up. I'm slowly getting them more and more pretty though...just need to promote the promotion pages now...

myspace had a good run of about 6 years but it got sheeped out with posers and shit bands which brought attackers and spammers. Remember when everyone was doing them quizes :D . Facebook is the new myspace with a unfuckable paint job. Soundcloud makes sense for musicians, Flick-r for photographers and Vimeo for video producers.

But MUSICALLY, myspace is still serious. If you don't have a myspace page you don't exist. I check my favourite musicians myspaces constantly. And as soon as I hear of someone new I google for a wikik or a myspace. Myspace still has its worth.

Soundcloud is, to me, indispensable, but its a behind the scenes tool from musician to musician, "regular people" will never ever flock to it to discover your material. Ever.

I actually know plenty of people that aren't musicians and listen to Soundcloud quite alot.

yeah i still use it.. kind of..
i still get a fair few song plays, and what's the harm in keeping it for that extra little bit of promotion? all it takes is uploading a track every so often.. plus i've linked my twitter to update my myspace status, so i keep it quite lively..
why not, right? no need to delete it just because it's a bit sh!t nowadays..
i give youtube a lot of attention..i've got 62,000 views on the account i've got now.. i had about 300,000 on the account before this one, and 500,000 on the one before that :o definitely worth having.

I had some weird dreams last night.
1) one dream i dreamt i was sleeping then i wake and there are a couple dead mosquitios on my shirt and then im like WTF and i lift my shirt and there are like hundreds sucking on my body and then i run to the mirror and panic iand pull out out of my neck and it felt like i was pulling a rod out of my neck. then i woke.
2) I was walking around this campus because I had to get to my next class and I ran into you and we were walking. It was Spring out but I had to get to my next class and I kept getting nervous because I kept forgetting things - like my books. But anyway I thought I was going to be late and didn't have a clue where the class was and everytime i'd try to find it there would be some issue like a computer lockup or network wouldn't access or this book didn't have the course. Anyway, we walked over to the class and found it and people were just sitting down and I didn't have my books and then I tried to kiss you off but you just kind of look surprised and left and then my class started and I wasn't sitting in the right row or some shit but we were starting this note introduce thing. That's when I woke

wonder who that was from
rest was all event and msg spam

I really don't like myspace. Personally, as a dubstep fan, I still use youtube and soundcloud to listen to peoples music, but never their myspace. To me, if an artist only has a myspace they look pretty high schoolish. For example, if someone is bigging up their own online scene and ends it with "check the myspace player", and it's their only link, i.e. no website or real game, then I tend to judge them based on that with a big fat "WHATEV" because a broke-assed 10 yr old could have set that up with a little "pimp my profile" magic. These days, with cloud computing kicking so much ass, you can actually use online tools to make your own .com website for cheap or free and make it look clean and professional. These days you can design flash sites for free and make them look sweet. I mean, for promotion reasons, saying "yo check my site at http://w ww .pimpindubstepfool.com" simply looks more professional than http://w ww .myspace.com/iamabrokehowithnocyberskillsyetistillusecomputerstomakemusicsocheckmeout/

Social networking is like an embarrassing plague that still kicks ass and has a lot of promotion possibilities, but the spam balance is tough to get right.
