Recommended speakers?
I am interested in getting speakers for my laptop. I'm unsure how much I'd have to pay but I want a decent brand. I'm sick of the standard laptop speakers which are a bit weak, and recently I've been fiddling with Ableton and fruityloops making beats and reckon it'd be a lot better to use proper speakers. Either that or I buy myself a big ass soundsystem completely. Discuss

KRK RP-6/8s are pretty standard I believe, but I've got literally zero knowledge in the field.

Thanks for the feedback thus far folks, another question. Is it possible that I buy a new hifi system completely and use the speakers for both that and my laptop?

Re: Recommended speakers?
if you get krks (or any active speakers) you won't need a hifi system, just a soundcard/audio interface

Re: Recommended speakers?
If they're active speakers (like the KRKs) then they'll work on their own, otherwise you'll need a power amp + pre amp or an integrated amp.say_whut wrote:Thanks for the feedback thus far folks, another question. Re: Recommended speakers?
This system has caught my eye. It's at a price I could happily shell out for. Plus, that iPod dock is real handy. Thoughts?

Re: Recommended speakers?
I always google the system/gadget/player/whatever and read what reviews say about it. Youtube has almost always some reviews as well.
I cannot tell you anything about what to buy I got this boomblaster but it lacks in mid tones and very pure high tones.

Re: Recommended speakers?
im lookin for moniters too...
if u want an advice..dont buy ''any speaker'''... i cant figure myself making heavy bass music with only my laptop speakers... its like... incredibly weird... man... but u know... some people make miracles out of nothing!
the speakers you are being recommended are studio moniters ... which means they will sound different from the ''Bass-heavy-family-stereo-xbass-boost-the-low-whiney-highs-but-hey-ur-neighbor-has-the-same-but-yours-has-a-supplementory-pouch-of-testosterone-hidden-under-the-cone'' or the ''im-a-grown-up-i-listen-to-jazz'' speakers.. they will sound like they have 'more character' then studio monitors.. .which sound rather flat... but dont get fooled... flat is good. its good cuz u always have the time on what ur music actually sounds like... once u get used to the way they translate to other systems.. u will get a more thruthful speaker that could tell u more about the flaws in ur music.. but also help u sound loud and boomy.. as opposed to the bass enhenced ones they sell at radio shack.. that could make u overestimate the amount of bass u have in ur songs and let u look whack when u bump ur track at some gig..
but its an investment... we dont know how serious you are about ur music.. considering ur current setup.. any boze alarm clock speaker set would be a major update...
sorry if its not clear .. im french and im rushing cuz my laptop battery is at 9%
that bein said.. Rokit 8 are more expensive then the 6s... but ive heard good things about the 6... im on a tight budget.. which one would u recommend and how much of a mistake is it to buy the 6 instead of the 8??? (the djing world has thaught me ur better off waiting for the dough and then buying something reliable)...
gd luck!! and cant wait for the reply, as usual

Yes, Krk RP6's are the ones. If folks didn't know, I work in a music shop, if you wanna buy some Speakers or whatever, hit me up and you get the Dubstep Famo discount

Re: Recommended speakers?
I'm using some Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1's - they're loud, crisp, clear, and have a really weighty bass response. Worth looking into.
