presumably it means that there was no time limit in the contract so effectively it's yours,
time does not exist in which case you can sue for fraud (but when?)
or the time machine is malfunctioning by not being able to return to the time when or place where it was acquired, entitling you to a refund.

but you don't rent time machines because you can travel back in time before you rented it and sell it to its owner with a bigger price before it was even invented. and you can do that several times with the same machine, i'm telling you this from experience
