Re: DJ Youngsta - using CD's now??
Its funny, I met his sister last summer (Souljah) and she thought that Youngsta and Mala would be the last two people to keep using dubs. Obviously he has had a change of heart.

Might have been a last minute production put in his hands to play, can't see him donning CDJ's full time, he's a SL man, and his family tree is also.

That hench dude with the camera from Sin City recordings

he only uses cdjs for brand new tracks
Re: DJ Youngsta - using CD's now??
I don't think this is the case mate, the clip I saw of him playing they weren't brand new dubs (even when it was recorded)alextheswede wrote:he only uses cdjs for brand new tracks
It's gotta be to do with money, think how much money he'll save a year lol
Re: DJ Youngsta - using CD's now??
Saw him at Fabric a few weeks back....was using nothing but CDs. Must be hard on the pocket cutting so many dubs though!
I still love seeing a DJ mix vinyl/dubs.

Take it from me, its nothing to do with money.
Clubs aren't looking after their decks, and with sound systems getting ever louder, they are becoming a nightmare to work with.
I too have conceded that I'm probably going to have to stop using the Serato vinyl and switch to Serato CD's soon. Skipping needles, people jumping near the DJ booths and loads of other factors make it nearly impossible to play an hour set without some kind of hindrance to your set.
Its definitely more about this than money I think.

Made the switch as well. So much easier setting things up, no need to worry about broken needles, crazy tonearms, bad pitch.plastician wrote: I too have conceded that I'm probably going to have to stop using the Serato vinyl and switch to Serato CD's soon.

Re: DJ Youngsta - using CD's now??
I've seen so many DJs going down this route because of this exact reason. I switched to CDs / MIDI controlling a while back but it was mainly because of money for me. That, and I had collected so many awesome tracks over the years on high quality mp3 that it would be silly not to.plastician wrote:Take it from me, its nothing to do with money.

This situation is proper shit, agree with what Plastician said though, seen so many places that only have CDJs now.

I'll never be able to look on in amazement as yunx blends one dub perfectly into another with nothing but skill, knowledge and love for his vinyl?
A dark day. CLUBS, SORT OUT YOUR SH*T!!!!
I don't turn on Korn to get it on, I be playin Digi Mystikz 'til the dawn
Re: DJ Youngsta - using CD's now??
as much as i would love to see dj's play all vinyl i totally respect the fact that as dj's plastician and youngsta and others make the switch to CD cos they properly care about putting a good set together, it'd be nice if clubs sorted out the fucking things that make people go there, nothin worse than a pub that doesnt clean its lines or look after its bar, why should a club be seen any different
this should probably be a message to all club owners, look after your equipment and it will look after you

Re: DJ Youngsta - using CD's now??
If you've witnessed the skill and expertise of Youngsta, and other DJs for that matter, do a set using only vinyl you can appreciate why being forced to use CD/midi is a bit shit not only for the DJ but for the listener/viewer as well.semr wrote:who gives a fuck if its cd's or not...means bare exclusive. trust me he smashed manchester to pieces last night.
It takes something away from the experience and culture of the scene.
