Speaking of WW3

Post by ketamine » Thu Aug 05, 2010 7:07 am

Would you rather be suddenly dropped into the middle of WW1 or WW2?

I'm going to be honest here, anything that happened during what I called "the black and white times" scares me. ANYTHING. The Titanic. Old news reels. All of it. The people walk too fast, the colors are all spooky, the technology is just god awfully metallic and heavy. Bolts and rivets in EVERYTHING. Etc. Anyway I've made my point.

I would pick WW2 in a heartbeat because you'd die quicker, with *almost* modern weapons and medicine (at least they had morphine). They had normal bombs: bombs that, when it explodes, you're just suddenly gone. Vaporized. Horrific to watch, but to be the victim, no pain.

WW1 on the other hand was on some serious scary sh*t. F*cking Bi-Planes and sit shooting at you, bullets all crappy and round. I mean, I know they'd kill you still, but d*mn. Something about being shot by a round bullet doesn't sit well with me. The tanks were HORRENDOUS...

That thing scares the sh*t out of me, it looks so un-natural. Medicine was non-existant, they were still using TELEGRAPHS and wearing werid mustaches like this:

ww2... it'd be such a mindfuck.

fuck that trench shit of ww1

respect for the veterans that actually lived that shit, tho... much much much respect, for both sides, both wars. even if they were drones i respect the ones who were brave and on the front lines.

There's just something inside me that's terrified of WW1. I don't know what it is. Technology was just to crude. I'd take a roadside Pakistan bomb to my Humvee over 100 dudes running at me wearing whatever the f*ck THIS is... Image

Yeah I went with WW2 as well.

Fuck being in the trenches. Imagine being in the middle of the battle of the Somme. People dying in their thousands around you, the murdeous rattle of machine guns, the fuckin flesh eating gas. Nasty.

The Brits were so unprepared for warfare like this as well. We rejected the idea of the recently perfected machine gun because it was "unsporting" only for the Germans to fully embrace the idea then use it to wipe out thousands of our men. Also when our guys went over the top into no mans land to mount an attack they were ORDERED not to run towards the German positions because it was considered undignified. They had to line up and walk towards the enemy, anyone who broke the line was shot by their own side. So they were basically sitting ducks.

Fucking madness.

WW3 is a laugh.
They'll never call it war again... now we have conflicts.

This way the voters don't necessarily have to support it.

This is exactly what I saw in the thread title too.

But I think your assessment is true, WW2.... for very few reasons.

WW2 anyday.

WW1 was fucking horrible. I mean, WW2 was pretty fucking horrible at times too, but WW1 really was a complete and utter shitfight.

Are we talking the home front too? I mean it wasn't just shooting and flying after all - what about the great big industrial war machine? Imagine living in London or Birmingham or something at the time. (Or Coventry! That got bombed to shit)

defo WWII

WWI was horrific, your chance of survival was so little, and WWII was so much cooler anyway... minus the holocaust etc.etc.
