mixing tips

Post by topmo3 » Fri Aug 06, 2010 11:36 am

hi

first of all, sorry for the poor subject, couldnt think of a better one :)

there might be an earlier topic about the same thing but i couldnt come up with any search terms, so
i'd like to know good tunes that go well in dubstep mixes, especially 80's pop, soul and new jack swing and 70's (prog) rock. any good ideas? it doesnt matter if the song has been used in a dubstep mix before, just want some tips. and not in the mood for diggin'

thanks

Don't know what exactly you're on about but I'd try to mix in some Men at Work :D

They were pretty popular in the 80's

I sometimes mix in some of the old lovers rock stuff that i inherited from my uncle, usually quite fun..

Like I started a set with 'I'm So Sorry' from Carroll Thompson and mixed in Appleblim's Circling... good fun.

Lover's rock is pretty dubby soulful stuff usually on a half tempo tip.. very chilled though mind.

Otherwise there is enough 80's stuff thatll mix, from Prince to Talking Heads etc.
