Feedback:

@Psythe u got a good thing going. Feel like that bass needs some cleaner automation. it seems a little too "loose" in the mix. keep it up.

@Jakedubber like hearing something new and original. props. like how you chopped up those samples. sounds like there needs to be more sub (at least through my speakers). well done.

@wabble like the sound. i kept waiting for some kind of build up, though that may not be what your going for. like it either way.

@Loud Flavor always love your tracks. can't wait to hear how this new one ends up. nice one.

@Basic A 1 vote for keeping the piano

below is a remix i've been working on. kind of a shout to my city as well. thanks for any feedback. Ying Yang Twins - Halftime ft. Homebwoi (Stand Up & Get Crunk) (King Logan Remix)

Just uploaded another remix WIP to soundcloud. I'm really lame at mixing my tracks, so I've been trying a new technique. Again, feedback much appreciated on both tracks. Peace.

@KingNoble:
Yeah man your soulja boy remix is tops! The only thing i could say that would improve it, is maybe make the drop-in's more epic? In other words chuck in a crash or messed up vocal sample as the chorus or breakdown drops... I really like the it how the track builds into the first drop

As for your other tune, its cool and well produced, but it is somewhat too 'busy' for my liking - the constant vocals get a bit much after a while, especially with all the mid-range wobbles/synths that are goin on... Maybe tone it down a wee bit here and there??

peace

This is my first dubstep attempt, and obviously being a complete and total noob, I've had to deal with garageband's problems as well as the musical typing. I can see that it needs a 'proper' drop, but lacking LFO and decent beat MIDIs, that won't really happen.
btw, sorry about not providing feedback to 3... I'm not even certain what real dubstep is. so umm... yeah. apologises for posting shit haha. open to all criticism.

KingNoble: [on the soulja boy remix] I really like the intro, reminds me of the Opera scene from Fifth Element, I think there may be too much buildup, maybe cut the music in before he even says 1... Makes your Drop #1 ;)
JStick: Nice Sampling & Drop haha, can't deny the True Blood Shit :D
MexicanKangaroo: Lots of Nice Bassy Sounds in there.

:o

Lots of feedback in this!

Cant believe I forgot I even made this post!

Going through and hitting everyones clouds up now, thanks in adnvance if you left me some bits in here, I appreciate it. The piano ended up staying in the final and getting the delay feedback cut down some and the reverb turned up, also dipped its volume a wee bit in the mix. Thanks to the guy who gave big ups to my intro, yeah man, their reversed samples, I have a habit of writing lines on instruments, then shifting the midi notes around so everything happens in the backwords of the order it normally would as far as chords n shit go, then I pile in reverbs, then I resample and reverse. Used this in a few tracks now, works best reversing guitars, tars, tuned percussion, ect, or in this case, chorded up rhodes. Neat old tape operating trick really, I just like the way it all sounds. Specially timestretched.

Check your clouds guys.

@ Drummerpig
i like that, intro is good! liking the lightening in it, adds to the feel of the song haha.

@ JemGrover
Cheers for the feedback! appreciate it!
Im liking your tune. as you say, the snare comes across as a high hat, but you know, i quite like it like that! its a different sound for sure! overall a nice laidback tune imo.

@ Jakedubber
MUCH better imo, also love it where the drums come back in when it drops! very effective.
I like this second one, for about 1 min 20, then it sort of gets a little tiresom the way it stops and starts. its like im constantly waiting for it to further drop. but up untill then i love it! the sample sits well and i like the way when it first drops it is very start-stop.

@ Miniature
No worries! yeahh shall have to.
As for this new one, i quite like this, you definately have a unique style! IMO there isnt quite enough sub bass, but im liking the drums in this, and the stuttering synth noise! that sounds sick.

@ King Noble
First one, cant really comment on it, the mix sounds right, but the song its self is not my style. i think the trumpets cheapen it a little imo. the song sounds abit much for me.
The soulja boy one, i like this! i really do. i do think its lacking a little sub bass though. but on the whole i do like it! structure is pretty good too!

@ Mexican Kangeroo
Christ thats quiet! haha. first attempt not too bad! the bearly audiable drums do sound alrite, untill they sort of kick in, then the snare sounds very muffled, well, all the drums do tbh. i like the synth that kicks in at about 35 seconds, sounds good.
Deffo keep at it, for a first attempt not bad atall.

@ Jstick
'This track is currently not available :('
sorry

@ Naroja
Seems to be a lack of drums lol, i dont know if thats the style your going for or not. i like the build up but then theres no energy when it drops. i like it at about 48 seconds, very dreamy and the samples suit this part.

@ Deniss1
Liking the intro and the riser! different. i also really like the synthy automated noise throughout it, it keeps moving throughout and suits the song well. infact i really like the whole song! also nearer the end where the automated synth sort of 'expands' if you like, sounds very good. one thing i would say though is the drums are very '1 - kick, 3 - snare' imo, maybe some more perc in there?

Cheers

Nick.

@ Jstick
just realised im following you on soundcloud! lol. sounds good, i like the drums in it, they sound good. the wooble is not my style but it fits, maybe abit too loud for the rest of the track IMO (but i dont have monitors so im probs wrong haha)

Nick: Definitely right, it needs more energy in it, drums, more sub, compression, kinda went lazy on it so far...

Worked on this, not really WIP, but more of a Patch I've set up.

@naroja liking that patch. can see that being used for a track

@jstick epic sample. nice drop, but not too keen on the ride cymbal or something that's in there

@deniss1 cool spacey sound. maybe should be a little heavier at the drop

ok here is my 2nd ever track. started it today so it's very rough. the drop will be changed and there is no proper intro/breakdown as of yet. also my headphones are really bassy so I need to crank up the low end and fix all the levels.

@drummerpig:Again i like the track but it sounds a bit thin, if you get me, not that my tracks are better but it does needs a little bit of oomph to shatter faces.

@dubplateguy:Quality sounding tune, can't fault this!

@steeple:It's heavy but a bit repetitive, but each to their own! Got a good base to work from and make something big there!

My Turn?

This isnt bad man not bad at all, especially for a first attempt. Not sure what your dubstep preference or background is but I think its safe to say no one really knows what "Real" dubstep is. If you can hear it....then its real. And thats what I absolutely love about this genre, there is not specific "guidlines" or "rules" (as with any music i suppose) there are preferred and extremely common structures, but dubstep is very versitile so dont be so hard on yourself. It can be taken in literally any direction. Keep at it, your rhythms and notation are on spot, you got a good ear for production. Get your hands on some better software (fruity loops at the least, which you can easily find online for free) garage band isn't necessarily bad, but you definitely want more control.

Hope this was some help!
ears ringin all night you know how that shit go

@ Dennis - Not bad dude, nice deep sound so far. And i think i recognised the sample, a bitching reporter from youtube?

@ Gaspstep - Cool track man, had some really cool ideas and nice flow. Bass was a bit loud in the mix for me.

@ Rave - Really well done for a second track ever. nice one. Thought it was actually pretty cool, nice and dancy and good hat shuffle.

@ Jstick - cool track, like the swing to the drums. and the bass automation is nice. awesome drop, love the sample of koto or guitar or whatever that is. Spot on track nice one.

Here's a track (remix) i've been working on, only second day into it so it's still got a ways to go

compress your sub-bass man, that or turn it down some make sure it isn't hittin the red on the instrument or mixer, other than that I like the direction you're going in with this tune.

@Gaspstep - the subs sound a little muddy, but I know you're working on that. But damn dude, that's a fat track. I'll keep an eye out for the finished product. Good stuff.

@Deniss1 - haha I like the intro. Good drop, too. I like the direction you're taking it. Very nice start on this track.

@Olux - Sweet bass sounds and smooth wobbles. Very tasty. I was bobbin' my head once it hit that 2 minute mark. I also liked the way the bongos fit in there. Very well done.

Here's a new one I'm working on. It's really rough and I know everything needs to come up. I'm going on vacation tomorrow and won't be around for a week, so I figured I'd throw it up as soon as I got the chance.
