Seeing as its my Birthday coming up, I want to throw a party at a venue with a few of my favourite DJs to mark the occassion.
Only problem is venue.
I've tried The Alibi, Plastic people, and Rythm factory so far, but I was just woundering what do people think is the best small intimate dubstep venue around East that I could try or alternatively do you know of a small unit or industrial space we could use?
O yeah good point, sorry forgot to mention it'll be for about 100 people.
Edit: Cheers for that one mate, I'm awaiting the guy from bookings to hit me back up but yeah that definately looks like an option!
Going to get at Grammaphone tommorrow, who do you think has the better soundsystem, Grammphone ROOM2 or Grammaphone?
Any other spots any one can think of?
the grammaphone is a great venue, good sound system aswell and nice staff that work their to. but if it was me I think I would have to go for the alibi! quite reasonable to book from what ive heard.I really hope they dont finish re-furbishing it, its perfect the way it is!

Yeah definately, I couldn't agree with you more mate. Its got that gritty feel to it which is exactly what I'm after, the Alibi is where I was originally after, unfortunately though, its booked up throughout the whole month apart from on a tuesday or a sunday which is pretty wak. Safe for that though anyways mate, hopefully when I chat to peeps at grammaphone tomorrow it won't be booked up.
Go with Gramaphone. Its has good sound and good equipment and people like playing there and you'll probably get a good deal from Rob the promotions manager. That said its not strictly a small venue. The downstairs room actually holds 250 so I would suggest running it on say a Thursday because they won't be too happy if there are barely 100 peeps there on a Fri/Sat. Good luck!!

yeah exactly mate, talked about this before with a couple of mates such a sick vibe their my mate described it as crack den vibes and its great to be so close to the DJ I remember the first time I went their, they didnt have the booth in yet just some random table. Makes sense about it being booked in the last couple of months it seems like so much is happening their and so much of it has been free. but still a night at the gramaphone will be good I really like it their aswell nice clear sound system and a good dark space downstairs.
Corsica Studios has Funktion One's in both rooms and they kick HARD just like they are suppose to. Been downstairs in the Gramaphone once, they have Funktion One tops but not subs (couldn't see what brand subs they had) They were hardly even on, whoever had set the gain level on the subs was taking the absolute piss because there was no decent low frequency output in comparison to the tops which were loud.
Really disappointed and probably won't ever step foot in there again. If you want a top class chest pounding system that doesn't make you think "Fuck sake can the techie turn those subs on so there are actually driving some kind of audible level) go to Corsica. After all they did win Britain's best small club in DJ magazine. And no I'm nothing to do with them, just sick of going to dubstep nights were the subs are weak as hell - Brixtion Jamm ahem. I was speaking to someone at Jamm about it and they said its a residential issue, they can't have the subs at a decent level.
My fav clubs with bass heavy sound systems:
Corsica Studios
Plastic People
Matter (RIP)
Mass
Cable
Haven't checked out Den yet or Fabric (going to Fabric on the 20th Aug, Hessle Audio Room 3) BIG!

Yeah fair rant, Fabric's system is actually well sick, shame about the club. Room 3 is a well good venue for dubstep too, quite small and hence decibels+
