Benga's 26 Basslines
I'm quite new to dubstep and I'm looking to teach myself the art by emulating the greats. I created this thread in the hope that posters will help me understand what's going on in Benga's 26 Basslines. I'm particularly interested in the bass as that's the driving force of the tune. Any suggestions on synths, samples and any other tools that might help?
Re: Benga's 26 Basslines
Benga has done a interview for future music where he explains all his production techniques including bass, i would start there

albino 3
play with waveforms spectral 23 and mix it with other waves pretty easy to get that similar sound
aalso ruun it through a cream filter and have the cutoff on about 85 and the saturation quarter of the way
maybe a bit of resonace too

I can't seem to find this interview online. I tried the future music website but the search function doesn't seem to work for me. I'll keep looking tho. Cheers for the shout.Crosby wrote:Benga has done a interview for future music where he explains all his production techniques including bass, i would start there

Re: Benga's 26 Basslines
seems like fp want to keep their stuff to the people who buy the actual issues...
torr...
nah nvmnd..
ive seen the benga interview, here's what ive learned :
u can use fl studio to make drums and start with the hats to make sure u have interesting rythms... then if ur smart enough to have an old version of logic u can bounce them into logic cause benga loves the mixer in logic.
then u may put cut/pass single band eqs on each row just for automation purposes.
etc.. etc...
he just walks people thru his workflow but he never gives any actual pointers on bass sounds themselves... altho they are made in albino...
how much are you familiar with softsynths and synthesis in general??
